Was General Patton MURDERED? Mystery over US war hero's death in hospital 12 days after he was paralyzed in an apparent car accident still fuels conspiracy theory 75 years on
UK Daily Mail ^ | 12/21/2019 | Tate Delloye

Seventy- five years ago this month, General George S. Patton was en route to a Sunday afternoon hunting trip in the devastated region of Mannheim, Germany when his Cadillac limousine collided with a military truck parked on the side of the road. The two other passengers in the vehicle were unharmed except General Patton who was left with a massive head wound and paralyzed from the neck down.

Patton was swiftly taken to an Army hospital 20 miles away where he made rapid strides in recovery over the course of 12 days. His presiding physician had given him the medical clearance to make the gruelling trans-Atlantic flight back home when suddenly on December 21, 1945, the indestructible general who revelled in his nickname ‘Old Blood and Guts’ was pronounced dead.

No autopsy was ever performed. All the reports and investigations into the accident have mysteriously disappeared. In 1979, an American spy with a sterling reputation named Douglas Bazata claimed that he was ordered by the Office of Strategic Services (a precursor to the CIA) to kill Patton and make his murder look like an accident.

OSS was full of commies

OSS was full of ruling class deep staters. But the OSS was disestablished 3 months before Patton's death.

OSS abolished September 20, 1945. Patton's wreck December 8, 1945. Patton's death December 21, 1945.

Also I have a hard time believing thousands of Allied POWs were left to be worked to death in Soviet gulags. Stalin had no shortage of slaves at that point since he had half of Europe. Why run the risk of permanently poisoning relations with the West by keeping thousands of Allied POWs to work as slaves when he already had plenty of others? That makes zero sense.

I just read the part of the article about the accident. It is definitely different than what I read many years ago. There was a heavy truck involved, I remember that but also an intersection

Short video on the accident.

I read that eyewitnesses (who included his wife) said he had his head out of the window when the accident occurred.

Hearsay, but the objection is without merit as this is not a law case. Historians have a special favor for contemporaneous government documents and witnesses to events and devote considerable effort to tracing them down. There are vast swaths of WW II documents that are still held back from the public.

This a perfect story of a death cause by a pulmonary embolism. Patton was immobilized after accident and I Doubt received treatment to prevent blood clots that is standard today. When he became more active he threw his blood clot to his lungs and died.

I want to make sure that I understand your position. You and everyone else out there do not have any evidence, but the lack of evidence is proof that there was a conspiracy and that Patton was murdered. All of this is true because the government is hiding the real evidence and we will never be able to find it.

Right.

Notably, the theft of the Reischbank gold remains officially unsolved,

I thought it was Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, and Donald Sutherland that stole the Reischbank gold.

That’s true, however, he was in his Cadillac limousine.

Undoubtedly...

I remember (I was 12 at the time) my grandparents first reaction when his death was announced... Patton had clearly identified the Soviets as the Nation's most dangerous long-term enemy...

Even though FDR was at ground temperature, FDR's permanent deep-state, being the tool of the Soviets that it was and without the consult of Truman, either at the Soviet's request had Patton disposed of or the Soviets did it themselves...

Patton was loathed by the Army brass because he said what he meant and meant what he said and accomplished many things without playing the deep-state's rules...

Exactly as President Trump is loathed by so many current politicians because he says what he means and means what he says and accomplishes many things...

Actually, O’Reilly used that theory as the “McGuffin” for his “Killing Patton” book. If one reads it to the end, or just the last chapter, you will find out that he totally discards it and lays out how the accident happened and how it could not have been a planned murder. The key point being that Patton made to decision to go pheasant hunting early in the morning of Dec 8. He told his driver to get the sedan and guns ready and asked BG Hobart Gay to accompany him.

If you look at the photos of the Cadillac after the wreck that are in the video, you will note that the damage to the right front of the car was more than ‘mere scratches.’

Having been involved with the declassification review of the Army’s WW2 records during the mid-1990’s after President Clinton’s declassification order, everything that was declassifed by General Eisenhower’s declassification order in 1947 was reviewed and declared unclassified.

The problem isn’t the declassification of records or records being “hidden or withheld” it is just that there are so many of them, that folks have not reviewed them at the National Archives building in College Park, MD. And having done research in that archive, the finding aids are not that detailed.

We are talking about tens of thousands of linear feet of paper records to go through. All one has to do is go to the National Archives, get a researcher’s card, go to the reading room and using the indexes they have, request the file boxes you want to review. See https://www.archives.gov/research

How do you “brace” in a caddy limo?My bet is no one had seat belts either as those didnt come in till a lot later. So the General is the only one (and Churchill) that realized the commie threat to Europe post war and ends up taken out of the game.Churchill voted out as Prime Minister after leading England out of WW2 on the winning side.So the 2 men raising the alarms against the soviets get removed and we give away(poland, czechsovakia romania and others get thrown to the wolves(russians) for 50 years.Smells really bad to me.
