Four reasons not to watch the news. An interesting perspective for Freepers (like me) who are constantly here.

why 4? We only need one..
Just one: constantly lying.
I largely agree. The news makes one stressed and angry, and it doesnt matter much. I stopped previously for a month, and I felt far better.
I did meditation, yoga, lifting and swimming in its place.
Havent watched TV since 2008. Dont miss it.
I can say that I stopped watching national news soon after Clinton got elected. And thats kinda a fact. I do watch local news but find myself hitting mute when politics come on.
And I nearly live on FR. Well,,,, when I’m in front of one of the computers. All told about 2 to 3 hours a day. Oh well, I pay my monthly dues.:<)))))
I don’t watch the NFL anymore and I haven’t missed it.
Same here. More time to read books and exercise.
I noticed the possible consequences of that when looking at the ages of freepers on the Freerepublic Wall. Just sayin...
Very sad how so many passed on early, noticed that myself.
bttt
Yep, my one reason is that it is no longer news. It stopped being news a long time ago and is now nothing more than propaganda promoting an agenda I vehemently disagree with.
The only way it has value is as an untrusted input for self-study.
Are there still people who actually watch network news? I would think that they are failing harder than even newspapers at this point.
It’s neat to go to conservative news sites and read the stupidity of those liberal idiot like Chuck Todd and their imbecilic ranting’s.

>I said the same thing, but allowed myself one exception: “at least we’ve got Fox News...fair and balanced.”
Yeh, right, we don’t even have that one anymore, Chris Wallace, for example. One America is still good, however.
I usually go to Fox Business.
1. The news is DESIGNED to poison your soul.
/list
It bounces around, but it looks like right around 59 is the critical area for freepers. It would be interesting to do a spreadsheet on it.
No matter what happens in any given day the news is the same length. With 24/7 news and online its like walking down the strip in Las Vegas with all the people handing you porn but dirtier
