Impeachment means to bring charges against an official. It does not mean removal from office. Read the Constitution before you are tempted to write something that makes you look like an illiterate buffoon.
a question? How does Page’s “we” refer to the collective, when Trump’s reference to “we” and Country not?
I still remember the quote attested to the democrat Senators who voted not to find Bill Clinton guilty back in 1998. “We didn’t feel like it rose to the level of impeachment”. Well, payback time is here. They don’t need a trial if they all feel like the charges don’t meet the level of an Constitutional impeachment. Just ignore it like it never happened. Then reprimand the House and charge them with sedition to overthrow a Constitutionally elected President.
A question for anyone that knows a little about House/Senate rules - is the President impeached simply when the majority vote for articles or does it have to be delivered to the Senate as well? If the House doesn’t deliver impeachment articles to the Senate for trial is impeachment only “pending”?
Impeached in the house. Removal is in the Senate.
Indeed. There is no such thing as a Federal recall election so they perverted the Impeachment process to create one.
There is no such thing as an “impeachment trial.” The impeachment of Trump has happened-—today. The trial is the trial.
Personally, I think his concern that it’s a black mark on him is unfortunate. I think it’s not going to hurt how history treats him at all. After all, barring some actual reason to remove him from office, he’s going to look rather good after he’s acquitted, certainly better by a light year than Slick Willie.
Google is your friend
This thread should be pulled. Way off track. Trump is indeed impeached. A conviction via the Articles of Impeachment in the Senate would cause removal from office. Nixon was never impeached. History is a stubborn thing....wow.....
Seriously? Did you see that Pelosi is threatening to withhold sending it on to senate?
Impeach is an old word. I might impeach your education since you are ignorant of its definition. I might impeach your character since you are misleading people on free republic. I could impeach your morals since you’ve got a shifty look about you. I might impeach your mental state or your financial integrity, since you only care about money, liquor and women. But I would never do that you understand since I believe you to be a patriot and scholar and one of unimpeachable integrity.
All that aside thanks for posting. I look for the president himself to set the leadership tone and I will follow his tactical decision whatever it may be.
He WAS impeached. He will not be convicted by the Senate.
“The House of Representatives...shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”
(ARTICLE I, SECTION 2, CLAUSE 5)
“The word “impeachment” is popularly used to indicate both the bringing of charges in the House and the Senate vote on removal from office. In the Constitution, however, the term refers only to the former.”

Impeachment is semantically distinct from removal from office.
Three Presidents have been impeached, as a mater of law and normative semantics.
None have been removed from office.
To be impeached is to be charged - nothing more or less...removal would be part of the impeachment process which also includes the Senate making it’s decision.
When it’s all said and done, the Dems will keep reminding us he was impeached and we can let them know that when one side is about unanimous for and the other unanimous against, it’s a campaign debate ... which is what they decided to degrade to impeachment process to...an attempt to keep the Best President Ever from a second term because they knew he was way too good to be unthroned.
So does that mean the Omnibus bill can’t move forward either and we get another government shutdown due to Nancy’s delay tactics regarding a fair trial under her rules? LOL.
Impeachment Conviction is the removal, and no Presidents have been subjected to an Impeachment Conviction.
In the mind of the public:
IMPEACHED=INDICTED
CONVICTION->REMOVAL
Is that wrong?
is the President out on bail?
