A former investment manager alleges in a whistleblower complaint to the Internal Revenue Service that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has amassed about $100 billion in accounts intended for charitable purposes, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The Washington Post.

The confidential document, received by the IRS on Nov. 21, accuses church leaders of misleading members — and possibly breaching federal tax rules — by stockpiling their surplus donations instead of using them for charitable works. It also accuses church leaders of using the tax- exempt donations to prop up a pair of businesses.

Nice when you can get 10% based on per-tax income from members.

Pre-tax incomes. They charge members on their gross before any taxes are taken out; they receive a bill in the mail just like a utility bill.

From what I heard a few years ago, the church quit taking the 10% to their headquarters and told local congregations to use it locally.

I guess this shows why, it appears they are awash in money, not entirely knowing what to do with it.

That’s really the least of what the LDS has taught its adherents.

PS: One of the requisites to enter the Temple is to show you are up to date with your tithing, etc., by showing your receipts.

“t. Is. True.

Let me see, there is an envelope with the local bishops name and local church maling address.

There is a reciept form for easy record keeping.

Can be handed in on sunday, or mailed for those of us who forget to ttake it with us.

When i was a Protestant we got an envelope from the church if we chose to instead of dropping it in the collection plate. If we mailed it in, we had to address the envelope.

Having a pre addresed envelope is the only difference.

And no collection plate.

These were pre-filled in bills with specific amounts inserted and a total to be paid; the key word is: to be paid.

Fake News. I’m LDS and I pay tithing on after tax income. And NO I have never received a tithing bill.... I give because God has asked us to (read the bible)

Good. CRUSH the LDS, and perhaps it won’t spend so much money lobbying for open borders and amnesty.
