A Central Florida woman says a well-being check went terribly wrong when a police officer shot her in her bed during the check. The woman believes she was set up by her ex-boyfriend.

Just getting it straight so I can tell others. Cops break into some woman’s house in the middle of the night without knocking in order to make sure she is okay. They sneak into her bedroom, pull the blankets off and start shouting orders. In the confusion, she pulls her gun and they shoot her. Now she has the possibility for life in prison.
Wellness check resulting in the shooting of the one they wanted to keep well and then she goes to prison for life. I’m glad the police kept her wellness in mind.
Well, I guess that is where we are today.
Why didn’t they try calling her first, before breaking into her house?
Any police department (or university faculty, or military unit, etc.) is only as good as the worst psycho they tolerate. ~ H/T RedStateRocker
Train them to shoot women defending themselves, and they shoot women defending themselves.
Quit your bitching.
The cops went home safe and sound.
Hey, at least they were at the right address when they decided to open fire.
Take it a step further. Have you ever been Tased? I have. You’re not going to continue to hold onto anything once you start getting electrocuted. I promise you.
I’m still a little confused about how they justify breaking into her house.
And listening to some of that cops statement, I don’t know if she’ll get a billion, but I’m thinking she might be able to retire early.
Did the story say anything about any pets being off’d because they were perceived as a “threat”?
Florida...Law...Enforcement...
So the DA is prosecuting an innocent woman knowingly to protect these crooked incompetent cops. Yep. Sounds like Florida.
The unjust prosecution of the woman is in the hopes of avoiding a civil lawsuit for civil rights violations. Egregious and an abuse of authority. She should sue them into bankruptcy.
To be fair to the police, they had a person who said he was her boyfriend with them, he was telling them she was suicidal and armed and wanted to commit “suicide by cops”. He told them how to break into the house.
What i don’t understand is why the government then decided to prosecute her for “attempted murder”. She did not actually shoot at anybody, it doesn’t seem, and she “resisted” because she was still groggy from sleeping pills.
When the police find someone sleeping, I don’t know why they do not take that opportunity to surround them, and then physically restrain them before waking them. It would be scary for the person, but then they wouldn’t have to shoot people.
(I’m thinking about the guy asleep in his car with a gun, and how the police could have just walked up to his car and pulled the door open, rather than loudly waking him from a distance, and then shooting him when he startled awake and grabbed the gun in his lap).
Police too eager to play “swat” ;And unwilling to admit they screwed up . Charge the ex with false report and the police with assault .
Thinking the police charged her to avoid lawsuit.
Because cowards are quicker to shoot than think.
The police well check showed up just in time to report that she’s been shot.
Note that not all police departments are filled with trigger happy incompetents;it seems to be related to the local political environment.
Hello there fellow Hoosier. Those in our town are petty tyrants. Not yours?
But its not desensitization! It is being ready to shoot nontraditional targets. Do I need a sarcasm tag? Is it too much to ask our town police and local sheriff to actually hesitate before shooting children and pregnant women?
If they messed up, or admit to it anyway, they might actually have to find a job that produces something for society other than wounded innocent people in their own beds.
Well, there is that.
