I’m not one for roughing it in nature. I love my civilized comforts and my creature conveniences.
The 3 barns on the small farm we bought were built in the 1860’s.
We tried to save them. After the 3rd barn restorer walked by “Tear it down” like the contractors in Bill Blanding Builds His Dream House we got the message.
Our family homestead was built in 1830 in the southern tier of NY. One of my “greats” bought it from the Hudson Bay Company before 1830. The paperwork is there. I think there was a log cabin there first. Mom and my brother’s family still live there.

Personally I’d have brought in a bulldozer and trucks to haul off the shack....then I would have brought in either a prefab or had a professional log cabin built there. I would be paying for the acreage and the view.
But that’s just me. I appreciate antiques as much as the next person.
bought the ‘cabin’ for $100 and then moved it to a different property and it cost him $40k - no electric - no plumbing - plus the guy sounds like a loonie

BTW, I don’t run adaware or other similar software as it consumes too many resources on my computer, and often hangs as much as it helps.
At 70, roughing it now, for me, is slow room service.

I knew a couple who were given a large chicken coup shack on several acres of land out in the country and transformed it into a home they called “Falling Inn”..... It was a shack of a home but they lived there as they worked to create a better life for themselves....and they ultimately did just that and left “Falling Inn” behind them years later.
