Obsessed Star Wars fans with sleeping bags and a portable movie projector have started camping outside Hollywood's Chinese Theatre, more than a week before the blockbuster begins playing.
Roughly 20 sci-fi lovers were in place Thursday, seven days before doors swing open for the first preview screening of the much-hyped, saga-concluding "The Rise of Skywalker."
Organizers expect that number to swell to 150 in the coming days, with fans of all ages traveling from as far as the United Kingdom and Japan to see the movie first at the iconic venue where the original "Star Wars" premiered in 1977.

The Last Jedi made me not see Solo which I would have if it had been even up to the level of The Phantom Menace. Think about that for a second. My forgiveness level is pretty high but the The Last Jedi put me into a realm where I no longer care about any of it. Episode 9 I may see in the future some time but it will be in a situation where I didn’t outlay a red cent to Disney. Same with Solo which some have said isn’t bad. Star Wars is over for me. I have a bunch of swag I someday hope to unload but who knows when. I did give a bunch to a friends kid over the last 10 years so a lot may still go that way. Adios Kathleen JJ and Daisy. I won’t be missing your product.
What can be said about one’s life that they would spend a week doing absolutely nothing but waiting to watch a 90 minute fairy tale?
On a human level this is just depressingly sad. We are so rich and have so much free time that people can lounge around for weeks at a time for purposes of spending another 90 minutes doing nothing productive.
Wow.
1977.
“I will never forgive Disney for destroying the Star Wars franchise. Never. What the heck was the last movie? Crappy storyline that made no sense and more concern with social justice than actually making a good movie. The only thing that was decent out of all of the recent movies was Rogue One”
I agree with you on Rogue one and Solo to a lesser extent. But I think SW was destroyed with JarJar binks, little Anikan, and natalie portman. ugh. This baby yoda is gut wrenching just to think about.
I’d prefer all of QM’s Most Wanted spaced out with some vintage Highway Patrol episodes instead of the typical present day movie.
Star Wars fans camp outside LA theater week before film opens

Camping out for a modern-day Star Wars flick is like camping out to have root-canal work done.
The prequels were bad but the SW franchise was still salvageable because of the hope of bringing back the old crew, Luke, Han, Chewie ....etc into these new movies. Disney obviously had other plans far different from the fans as they were quick to kill off every favorite character around as a soon as they got on the screen and social justice crap
LA needs a good dose of about 12” of AGW right now...
Maybe Algor can travel down from Montecito to prevaricate about “climate change”. That usually brings an inclement change in the weather.
In view of how badly Disney has mangled Star Wars, anyone who camps out for a week to see it is truly insane. The police should round these people up and ship them off to an institution.
It all started with those darn Ewoks.
Camping out for fake Star Wars movies.
The reviews of the trailers and the reports of what is happening behind the scenes all suggest anther bad Star Wars movie.
See the Overlord DVD reviews. Corny act but revealing reviews.
