Army-Navy uniforms: Navy pays tribute to Heisman winners; Army honors 1st Cavalry Division
Washington Post ^ | December 5, 2019 | Jacob Bogage

For this year’s Army-Navy game, the Midshipmen have a new — err, old — look, and the Black Knights will honor a contingent of soldiers that attacked from the air.

No. 24 Navy will wear uniforms inspired by the teams of the 1960s and a pair of Heisman trophy winners: halfback Joe Bellino and quarterback Roger Staubach. The Mids will wear blue tops with gold shoulder stripes and gold numbers, along with plain gold breeches. The tops feature the American Athletic Conference logo patch, the college football 150th anniversary patch and a patch signifying each Naval unit.

The 1st AirCav Division inspired uniforms look awesome. The West Point marching band needs to play "Ride of the Valkyries" during the game.

Pretty much dumb and dumber, although I can agree somewhat with Navy going back to their retro uni’s. The Air Cav is dumb. Just wear the black and gold as always. We (USAFA) do this crap with the Air Power legacy unis, the C-17 and Stealth unis when all the fans and grads just want the traditional Blue and White with Lightning Bolt helmets. They do this nonsense for money now since all the Athletic Departments are self funded.

Not so sure about that one. Wagner was Hitler’s favorite composer, and rumored to be a Nazi sympathizer.

(I do like that piece though).

My dad used to put on his Navy uniform and watch the game. I might watch some of it, but I'm not going to put on my Marine uniform to do so.

Go Navy

"The Air Cav is dumb."

It's ok, Chairforce. I'm sure the USAFA has a toll-free line you can call for free counseling to get you through the difficult time you're having with the uniforms college students are wearing at a football game.

“Wagner was around during the nazi era?”

No. Big Duh to me.

A rumored anti-Semite, but surely not a Nazi.

Thank you.

GO NAVY. Beat Army.

Well it *is* the Song of the Sea. :)

Exodus 15

19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

So there. Carried up on eagles' wings.

GO NAVY. Sink Army.

It's like Oddball said,

So many positive...

waves.

You... the American Army.

No baby, we ain't...

LOL. Wilhelm Richard Wagner (22 May 1813 – 13 February 1883) was a German composer, theater director, polemicist, and conductor who is chiefly known for his operas (or, as some of his mature works were later known, "music dramas").

Adolf Hitler (German: 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945). Hitler was born after Wagner died. The Nazis did use his music as part of their spectacles, but that is the only connection.

I remember when PDJT went to the Army-Navy game in 2016. He was the president-elect and the media still had people who liked him. It was a happy hopeful day.

Wagner was around during the nazi era?

The composer's English born daughter in law, Winifred Wagner, appeared with Hitler and hosted him at the Bayreuth music festivals. The Wagner family appears to have been close to the Fuhrer.

Composer Richard Wagner DIED in 1883 long before there was such a thing as a Nazi to sympathize with.

The festival was in 1934 when nearly everyone but an ignored Boehnhoffer [who came out in 1933 with a radio address about worshipping a messianic leader - The Fuhrer Principle] was still stupidly enthralled by Hitler... Germany had signed the German-Polish Non-aggression Pact ... Japan invaded Manchuria, the communists began the Long March in China... and while that year was the Night of the Long Knives when Hitler purged the “leftier” sorts... by gosh, in person he was as personable as Obama, Bill Clinton or Joe Biden.... just wanting to make Germany great again. [Hence the current hysteria by the left over Trump... not that he is what they say they fear but they know they have hammered so long and hard against America and had so let things deteriorate that Americans are sick of it and ready for change - the left tried to create in Obama a messiah and failed, making things worse, but know the potential is still there if only Trump wants to take control as they would if only they could find a suitable messianic figure. ]
