Does anyone have knowledge of a server breakdown at McAfee?
My son received an unsolicited phone call from a McAfee rep saying their server crashed and they need to refund my credit card.
Smells. Anyone else hearing this?
McAfee itself is one of the worst virus on the internet, and this is another example of its perniciousness.
Could be a scam.
But if you don’t give them your card number, how will you ever know?
Go on, try it!
It’s a scam. I was getting 5 to 6 calls a day from scammers. I got the new iphone and now all the calls that aren’t recognized in my phone go straight to voicemail, no ring. It’s awesome. My phone is so quiet now.
They tell us the local constable is gonna come get us !
You forgot about your Apple ID being stolen and that the Social Security Department has flagged your Social Security Number for fraudulent activity as a result.
The part about the IRS scam that really gets me is that they call my 85 year-old mother-in-law and, until I sat her down and explained it, scared the bejeebers out of her. Didn’t help that they were spoofing the incoming number so it looked like it was coming from Washington, DC (area code 202).
I just got one today saying that my subscription to Microsoft windows had expired.
Everyone needs to understand that these are all scams designed to get your personal information.
Absolutely true. Our IT department at work loves McAfee for some reason; theyve installed it enterprise-wide. When they first installed it, we discovered that it was not only deleting tons of our important files, but it then proceeded to delete its own files. The idiotic thing was deleting everything, including itself! That of course caused it to eventually freeze as it deleted certain files that it could not continue operating without. It also uses tons of system resources and slows computers to a crawl. I hate it with a passion.
Indian accent?
It came already installed on my computer and I removed it. Very bloated product which slowed my system down.
You are actually bothering us and using band width for this thread?
Scam.
Yes, I had it on one of my computers back in early 2000’s.
Was garbage...................
Why are you even answering the phone if you don’t recognize the number. The bastards are all scammers.
McAfee should pay people to use their awful products.
Our leadership in Europe loves McAfee.
I am the guy in the US that has to install the stuff and encrypt laptops. I’ve had McAfee encryption go wacko more than a few times.
FWIW - watch this video from the founder of McAfee John McAfee on how to uninstall McAfee anti-virus software.

Never give anyone your credit card number unless you initiated the transaction—easy peasy.
“Windows” and “Microsoft” call me all the time.
(This message brought to you by a Chromebook. ;-) )
Scam. Did they want his credit card no?
Even McAfee doesn’t like McAfee.
