“How sad for their loved ones, that people die up there on this great adventure of climbing a mountain”

I’m far sadder for those that die slipping in the street or bathtub

“It’s funny how we’ve reached a point in modern civilization where climbing Everest is just a bucket list thing.”

They say more people have now climbed Everest than have sailed (by wind) around the world.

At my age, it would be the LAST item in the bucket.

We could change that old phrase, “Florida, where america goes to die.” to “Everest, where america goes to die.” :)

With teens, ladders and the ever terrified woman, I thought this would be about the border wall.

A good book on the adventure of climbing Mt. Everest was “Into Thin Air”, written by Jon Krakauer on the disastrous 1996 climb. One can’t help but think that if the majority of the ropes and ladders - all the “assists” were removed from the climb making it less attractive to the inexperienced, there would be fewer deaths but then why should we care? I’m not sure I do but probably the people doing it for a lark because they can afford it are responsible for the deaths of others on the climb and that’s what is objectionable.

The bodies are now trail markers. As long as you can see dead people, you know you are on the right track.

Two way traffic on a knife edge at 28,000 feet. What could possibly go wrong?

Amazing, but at $15,000 a climber fee I guess someone is cashing in.

This isn't Sir Edmund Hillary conquering the impossible, it's a cheap ride at a Disney wannabee tacky North Dakota carnival.

The whole ‘bucket list’ for competitive bored white liberal ‘elites’ is boring...

Get over it ‘elites’... we're NOT impressed....

Before there was an effort to clean up the place, I saw pictures of base camps that looked like land fills of garbage.....disgusting!

As a side note, each guide group should be required to salvage the body of anyone who dies and bring them back to the base instead of just leaving them behind.

Don’t forget they’ll have to grow their own potatoes and such in little pressurized tents heated and lit with only solar power.
