I find the sudden leftist hate of Amazon to be interesting.
Will Jeff Bezo walk-away and smell the coffee or will he double down on the leftism?

They demand performance and have mastered measuring for it. They know it’s a hard, physically demanding job requiring 8-12hrs per day on your feet.

And they follow the letter and intent of the law.

There is no plausible complaint.

I thought it said Maureen Dowd at first. She wouldn’t last an hour.

I note there’s been a concerted propaganda campaign the past couple of weeks against amazon with planted stories allegedly by different outlets but all being sourced by the “nonprofit” “Center for Investigative Reporting”

I have a niece who works at a Amazon center in South Jersey. I asked her if the horror stories about working at a Amazon center were true. She told me most of them are but the money is good and she is staying with them.

oh boo hoo. Sorry if that offends anybody. There are 2 sides to every story. I’d like to see Amazon’s handbook. I’m fairly certain that everything required is noted in it.

My son works at Amazon "flagship" distribution center.....he's been there 3.5 years. Has had several promotions with pay increases. Full medical, 401K match, generous PTO, and other perks such as OCRA card which he can use anytime on any public transit in WA.

BUT this time of year there is mandatory OT, and can't take vacation days. He says it's no place for whiners or slackers.

they almost have to be like that, they’re warehouses operating with high volume and quick shipping/delivery deadlines

i would not personally choose to work in such a place
but so long as they maintain safe working conditions and nobody is forced to sign up there...what’s the beef?

[Absolutely no cellphones on the floor! They didn’t want anybody taking pictures or giving away their secrets! No food. No drinks — except water.]

I think the phone rationale is pretty clear - no wasting time on social media or personal calls. And the water thing is just a way of preventing sticky juice or soda spills. Once someone figures out a way to unionize Amazon, it will be just like the unionized delivery giants - FedEx, UPS and the Postal service, i.e. the phone and water restrictions will be abolished.

Bezos is looking to get the delivery operations at least as efficient as FedEx and UPS before he bows to the inevitable Department of Labor edict. His problem is that once Amazon’s package handling and delivery people are unionized, Prime 2nd day delivery will be too unprofitable to sustain.

I’m sure she’s got a good heart, but this doesn’t sound like the kind of person who’s cut out for the private sector.

this doesn't add up.

one, says she's an EMT, WHY IN THE HELL is she working as a stocker if she's an EMT? i don't believe that one

two, I wanted nights, because I had a day job working as a bar manager. By the second week, I just wanted out. I stayed as long as I did because of my father. I wanted him to be happy that I had a job.

if she's a bar manager isn't that a job to make her daddy happy?

three, In the end, I didn’t get stock.

i'm pretty sure you have to be there at least a year to get the stock option and were told that by HR, how long was she actually there? not a year that's for sure
