Kinda like google, just less pay.
With Google, most get signed on for up to two years on a temp contract. At any time these employees can be shown the door for any reason.
I worked at computer and technology recycler/reseller during the time of the wun.
It was lot like Amazon except for abysmal pay, sweatshop conditions, long hours, criminally incompetent management, no prayer of advancement and regular power outages.
Regarding power outages it was mostly self inflicted. One of the main jobs was wiping and selling servers. Naturally as many as possible as fast as possible.
After a while it was determined that x amount of servers could run at a time without tripping the power and having to start again.
The great minds insisted that we were stupid and incompetent. After all the St. Louis fools didn’t like us either.
We’d start to wipe more than the limit, the power went out. Numbers fell behind.
Come to find out the new building they built had at most 20 amp breakers. The electrical system was designed by the resident headquarters electrical engineer.
I drive by the place every so often in the northeast. For the most part it was and probably still is a revolving door. The last time or two I saw a familiar truck. It belonged to a transplant that was there before me.
