When I saw Bear, hotel, and Tennessee, I immediately thought of Gatlinberg.

I can't honestly say if this happened at a motel in Atlanta he wouldn't have been charged for killing the bear. You shoot a bear in Georgia its like the end of the world. Its ridiculous but if a bear wanders into your yard here the DNR and cops will not remove it because its in its natural habitat. I would not shoot a bear for any reason unless maybe it was trying to steal the stars and bars. 😆

When I saw Bear, hotel, and Tennessee, I immediately thought of Gatlinberg. Same here. Been to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge dozens of times over the years. And have seen a few bears around town, but heard lots of stories about them from the locals.
However a number of years ago there was a bear on the second floor outside deck of the motel I was staying in. It was several doors away from my room and was rummaging through a trash can in the middle of the night. Just made a mess and don't remember anyone actually seeing it.
I saw one walking through the parking lot at about 2 in the morning on another occasion at the same motel.

Gatlinburg in mid July is a good place to have a brew at an old saloon on a street of mud.
