Christine Rollins, 59, was attacked in Anahuac, east of Houston, outside a home where she worked as a caregiver to an elderly woman.
Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne told reporters on Monday: "In my 35 years I will tell you it's one of the worst things I've ever seen."
"No doubt in my mind that it was multiple animals and we can tell that from the different sizes of the bites," said Sheriff Hawthorne, adding that the homeowner's dogs appear to have chased away the hogs before Rollins' body was discovered.
The sheriff said neighbours had recently complained about rampant feral hogs, and officials have since laid traps for them.

Wolves don’t have up to 3 liters per year with as many as 14 piglets. One sow can turn into 30 in one year’s time.

Excellent point. Like that old saying, “when seconds count, cops are only minutes away”.
We have them roaming around on our golf courses right here in Georgetown, right along with the coyotes, deer and turkey.
Ive never seen a wild hog in person. Nor a wild pack. What do you do when that happens? Assuming Im without my firearm.
Feral hogs have been seen on golf courses in Crosby,Tx, also just out of Houston. We seem to be a Sanctuary City of all kinds of feral activity. Including MS13 members..
Traps may be their best bet, given what I saw.
The guy who was shooting off the four wheeler hit one and scattered the rest.
Odds are that herd won’t come back for a while.
Better to bait them, en mass, to a trap and blast them in there.
Not sure I’d want to eat the meat, though.
We were at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge a couple of months ago. The ranger said to come back in a couple of hours The Feds were going to be shooting hogs from helicopter. This happens all over the state on a regular basis yet the kills are larger and larger each time.
The hog’s range and population is ever expanding.
I don’t know either, except to pray for a miraculous pack of Pit Bulls or Boerboels to magically appear, right about then.
:-\
Domestic hogs are also pretty dangerous if you fall down in a pen.

That thought had crossed my mind whenever I had seen the movie Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood, great f’n movie) early on when he has his kids separating the hogs. They were bigger than the kids. I supposed if well fed it would be less of a danger, but with animals and instincts being what they are.... it seems a little unrealistic to me.
Don’t be unarmed. And stay way away from piglets. Momma wild pigs are very dangerous.
[What is wrong with Houston? Are they waiting for the politicians to deal with this problem?]
I can only wish y’all luck.
This is a nightmare.
Lets just hope it is only feral pigs that get shot.
Don’t be so down, their might be a few PETA people there.
That's what they said about carrier pigeons.
Feral hogs are a huge problem in the south, its probably the one animal you can hunt to your hearts content, and no body much gives a crap. Its not like you are hunting Bambi or anything. Its an invasive species that is tearing everything up.
LOL!
Your close but not totally accurate. Pigs have up to 14 piglets but the survival rate is 16
Yes, that is correct. There are no restrictions on hunting boar in Texas. You can even hunt them by helicopter.
We have them coming right into town down in Sarasota. Up here, there are more hunters who know how to cook wild pork, but would rather hunt deer, so the hog numbers are severely curtailed for both reasons. Had one lone hog show up here a while back and root around my pond, saw just a little hog crap, so I called in a friend who hunts them to kill it before it decided to stay; he agreed it was just a single hog and brought in some buddies with dogs and had a wild night in which the hog escaped into the swamp. They had hoped to catch it and cut the nuts if it was male or take it home if female. But the hog apparently decided to leave us alone and go some place more relaxing. Hasn’t been any digging since.
