Quinn forgot one of life’s great lessons—pigs get fat and hots get slaughtered.
JETS!!!!!!!
The Curse of Bobby Layne is real.
I live here. In Detroit.
I sat down with my wife. She put the Lion’s game on.
...and there he was.
Matt.
With his iconic sharpen yellow #2 pencil behind his ear.
My first thought was “moron”.
Then it got worse.
Thank the Lord I don’t care about the NFL.
...but my wife does with her cute little Lion’s shirt on.
After the second up the gut go no where play followed by a screen pass guaranteeing a 4th and 12, she advised Matt on where he could reposition his pencil.
Matt Stafford is a cool customer and I’m glad he’s faking injury this year.
Who wants to be sacrificed by an adolescent head coach.
Well at least for Dallas fans, the Mavs and Stars are looking good.
On my first morning in Michigan after moving there the Lions fired Darryl Rogers as coach and replaced him with Wayne Fontes.
And little has changed since.
Never hire a football coach named Patricia.
The Lions have never been winners as they have a horrible front office that cannot build a team (thanks Russ Thomas)...
I’m one of those that doesn’t believe in judging too quickly. A complex game with complex dynamics, both in season and out of season.
That said, I’m tired. Very tired. Now it’ll be 29 years without a playoff win. I’m tired of seeing players like Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford...all being WASTED by an organization that can’t build a team around their stars. They just take them for granted, they’ll bring in the ticket sales, that’s all.
We either have a running game (Barry) and no QB. Or a QB and a SINGLE star receiver with no O-line. Or a generally good offense with a sieve for a defense - one that couldn’t stop a must-stop drive to save their lives.
For years we had the carousel of coaches and QB’s. Rarely having the same pair for more than a year. THAT is a formula for failure. Matt Stafford has had his share of coaching changes. Another one might just be a final straw in his love for the game, just like Barry.
For the most part I watch the first few games and judge the team by the O & D-lines. If the QB is running around and we have no running game, and/or can’t stop the run, then I just resign the season as another loss. They prove me right each year. ...so I just casually watch in case some miracle starts to happen.
Sigh.
Thanks for posting. I used to watch...and I was usually depressed the rest of Sunday and going into work on Monday. I haven’t watched in 20 years at least. My Sundays and Mondays have been great ever since.
We
So tired of all the darkness in our lives...

Caldwells record in Detroit? It was 36-28, with two playoff appearances. Hed just put together consecutive 9-7 seasons. That wasnt good enough for the new-look Lions.
Yeah, the common factor in their 61 year skid is the team ownership. Literally the only playoff win they've had in my lifetime was during the tenure of head coach Cocaine Wayne, who led them to a timid defeat in the NFC playoff game. If the Lions actually get to the Super Bowl (and I mean as a competing team, not their usual way, picking up some extra money by selling dogs and bags of nuts at the stadium on game day), I'll sing the National Anthem in the nude.
