I'm still upset that they're ending support for Windows 7. My laptop runs like a dream with it and is too “antiquated” to run with 10.I tried it...complete failure...had to reformat.

I had few problems with WIN7 but when I was downgraded to WIN10 in the middle of the night, things started to go wrong in short order. Mostly it would hang up and get slower and slower. I’d clear the cache an do the usual tricks but to no good. Virus scans showed nothing. It became unusable. I switched to Linux and it is fast and stays fast. No degradation.

Apple does that with its OSs as well. Buy a new machine after a certain period or risk security features and apps that no longer function as they once did. Suks.

With the Windows 7 end-of-support clock slowly winding down to January 14, 2020, Microsoft is announcing it will offer, for a fee, continuing security updates for the product through January 2023.

Linux Mint will make it brand new and up to date with all the same capabilities.
