I once knew a girl from Georgia who was a striking beauty, queen of everything and named sweetest at her high school.
Around 20 years ago, she got married. Maybe 6 or 7 years later I wondered what ever happened to her. when I Googled her very unusual name, I was surprised she had gotten a divorce.
What really surprised me was her husband had filed and she had opposed it.
My wife does this one perfectly, in a southern drawl. There were these two Tennesee ridge runners that were best of friends. One of the two girls got an opportunity to go out to LA. When she got back from the trip, her friend asked her how it was.
She said, “It was amazing! they have so many unusual things out there.” “Like what”, asked her friend. “Well,” she said, “they have men that sleep with other men.” “What do they call those””, asked her friend. They call them homosexuwals”, she said. “And they have women that sleep with other women!” “What are they called?”, her friend asked. “They call them ‘lesbians’”.
“What else do they have?”, the friend asked. “Well, they have men that kiss women right between the legs!”.
“Oooooh. What do they call them?”
“Well, once I caught my breath, I called him Precious.”
Well bless her heart.
I think that woman works for me.

Once you marry a “beautiful woman”, the beauty part fades. What matters is the person you married. If he was only smitten by her looks, she may have been a very nice girl and a great wife for the right guy, but he was looking for something else.
It may be that she was a “crazy woman”, or it may be that he is just not all that monogamous and once he conquered her he needed to move on. Or he had jealousy issues. That can happen as well with a very beautiful wife/girlfriend. It’s what forced my daughter to break up with her fiance. That one saddened me, until I realized just how his jealousy manifested itself.
You never know...

One day I did notice a prescription bottle. I took a quick peek and it was Xanax. probably indicates manic depression, maybe something else.
I will take this to the grave: No matter how beautiful a woman is, once you’ve “bedded” her, her beauty is not what is going to keep you with her. I hate to disappoint the feminists out there, but that is just how it is.
What keeps you with her is two things: Your sense of commitment and your love for the person inside that temporarily “beautiful” outer shell. And hopefully it is the latter, as it is in my case. And, oddly, that person can become more beautiful to you every day, all the while her looks are fading to the outside world.

Great story. My wife refuses to say her hearing isn’t what it used to be. 47 years and counting. I say her hearing is fading, she says I don’t listen. We look at each other and say “huh?” Everyone from the south knows what “ My That’s Nice” means. :)
My son has one of those, beautiful inside and out, and she loves him. Does it strike you that they have ten fine right-acting children?

I’ll probably mess this one up, but the wife is looking at herself in the mirror.
“Harold - do you think I’m going bald?”
“Well, we all lose hair as we get older.”
“And it looks like I’m getting a double chin.”
“Well - you have gained a few pounds.”
“Does it look like my age spots are darker?”
“Only if you get up real close.”
“Honestly Harold - can’t you say anything nice!!??”
“Well - your eyesight is damned near perfect!”

There are at least 4 men in the world that grew tired of Christie Brinkley's crap. I'm sure there's more to come.
