The owner, who asked to remain anonymous, had left his car running in the street when the dog changed gears and didnt stop driving for almost an hour, Port St. Lucie Police said.
The community escaped injury save for the mailbox, which the owner promised to fix.
As for the dog, its impossible to know its thoughts behind the wheel. Did it jump at the chance for a joyride and a fleeting taste of freedom? Or was this all a harrowing accident as the dog felt all control slip through its paws?
Sabol, for one, was impressed.
They should give that thing a license.

Lucky dog knew the cops couldn’t hit a moving target.
On the Internet, no one knows you’re a dog.
I had a gear shift once that would slip into an adjacent gear at the slightest touch. It was apparently a common problem because they recalled it; and a few months after they ‘fixed’ it, it started slipping again.
I just don’t understand how this car kept going for any length of time unless Doggie was lying on the gas pedal.
Ha!
You have competition.
Florida is becoming California? Land of Fruits, Nuts & Flakes?
I put our dogs in the car and started it up and went back inside the house to get something I forgot.
Yep, one of the dogs stepped on the door lock button on the armrest and locked the doors.
Went back inside the house to get the spare keys.
Learned my lesson.
I don’t know about your car but mine will creep forward while I’m in gear if I don’t apply the brake. I assume the same thing happens in reverse.
Hold muh milkbone and watch this!
Maybe, but I don’t think it would go in circles for an hour.
“So, the dog had its paw on the gas pedal?”
Cars idle high enough it will go without the gas pedal being used.
Put your car in reverse (or forward) and let off the brake and don’t touch the gas and see what happens
dyslexic dog. BRAKE and BARK look the same to him.
Hahahahaha...”Toonces”!
My absolute all-time favorite Seuss book. I still read it today at 53!
Someone tell Gutfeld. Animals are great.
LOL
Did he stop at hydrants for a bathroom break?
The woman in the video bears an eery resemblance to Aileen Wuornos.
Five (/) years ago, I came out of a bar, completely sober and found a 17-18 year old kid in my 5 spd Tiburon trying to start it and drive away. He didn’t realize he had to push the clutch (What’s a clutch?)to the floor in order to engage the starter in a MANUAL 5 Speed. I watched for three minutes and when he sheepily came out of the car. I caught him with a fist across the Adams Apple and left him choking and puking in the lot. Couldn’t start the car myself , he’d torn the ignition out and left it dangling there.
Interesting story but it’s a shame it had to be covered by a grown woman who thinks it’s cute to talk like a 12-year-old.
