Mostly agree with KitJ. But as for “going on OFFENSE”, I actually think we’ve been on offense for quite a while now (over a year, or maybe since Q first posted). It’s kind of a stealthy offense, so not apparent to most people.
I think Trump has controlled the House hearings or at the very least allowed them. One clue to me is the way they were constantly delayed and delayed and delayed. And NP was saying not yet, we’re not ready, etc, etc, then wham. Suddenly they’re holding the “inquiry”.
What I’ve been thinking about - aside from what a sham the Schiff show is - is that I don’t see any good moves for the Dems after the “inquiry” is over. They MUST know that the Senate won’t convict. As long as they have Schiff running this farce and ensuring only Trump-hating witnesses are called, they can continue to grandstand with anti-Trump messages all day long.
But as soon as the Schiff show wraps up, either it goes to the Senate which is a losing play for the Dems or they fail to vote to impeach, which is also a losing play for the Dems. Or am I missing something? Does anyone see a good next move for them? I don’t. Q: “no step 5”.
I’d say time for the Trump admin (WH, DOJ etcetcO to openly go on the offenseive. The derps have backed themselves into a very, very tight canyon from which there is no escape. Sort of like Ol’ Bagdaddy.

They already have failed. That's why the House never voted to initiate articles of impeachment. The House voted down an impeachment three times. Like you say, Pelosi delayed and suddenly came up with this new "inquiry" procedure.
The House, under Pelosi, is playing Russian Roulette. With a revolver loaded with six rounds. There is no way out for them.
Pelosi is not a Grey Hat. She is not helping the White Hats intentionally. She is committed to the cabal and corruption until death. She is so arrogant that she thinks she will be protected. She is decrepit and drug-addled.
The question is whether she likes her cocaine snorted or intravenous. Rumors abound that she is a coke fiend. For a long time. Also many rumors that she hires bucks to service her. That would be like having sex with an empty pillow. Eww.
I think the Dems will not pass impeachment to the senate. They will illegally vote to censure the president instead. Maybe even make noise about a criminal referral for when he leaves office.
They can’t afford to let team trump call witnesses, and expose the corruption.
