Mike Francesa: Kaepernick Doesn't Actually Want To Play In NFL
"He Wants To Cash In Against The League And Off The Field"
On Saturday, free-agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed a 40-minute workout in front of representatives from eight teams. Originally, 25 teams planned to be in attendance for the workout, that was previously scheduled to be at the Atlanta Falcons training facility.
The location of the practice was changed shortly before the start of the workout because of a disagreement over the terms of the workout between Kaepernick's representatives and the NFL.
WFAN's Mike Francesa explained his thoughts on the Kaepernick situation Monday afternoon.
"I told you the whole thing was a farce from the beginning ... to take off and have his own [workout>, he has no intention of playing in the league ... the NFL wanted to make sure they didn't get hit with another lawsuit."
The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who led them to Super Bowl XLVII, hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season.
"I don't think Kaepernick wants to play in the NFL. What he's trying to do is position himself where he can have his big PR day and show he can still get people there. Get a lot of attention, which gets him set for his next payday, commercial he's gonna do, to get his message out. Show everybody I can still throw it, I'm being unjustly kept out of the league, send the whole message ... I think he wants to cash in against the league and cash in off the field ... that's all he's looking for, his payday."
Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the Niners in March 2017 and became a free agent. He went unsigned through the off-season and 2017 training camp.
"If he really wanted to go about it, you'd go through it the quiet way, contact the teams in need, ask if you could work out for that team quietly, without anyone even knowing and show them you still have something left. That stuff has not gone on... you didn't need the public there."
In October 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL, accusing the 32 league owners of collusion to keep him out of the league.
"I think the NFL wants him to go away. The NFL wants no part of him. They don't want the lawsuits or bad publicity... all it is is one side trying to scam the other side."
Am I the only one that thinks this whole “watch some idiot work out” thing is ridiculous?
Kraperfink was given natural gifts, abilities and favor yet this is ungrateful schmuck chooses to be a loser with victim mentality. What NFL team wants that in a QB. Kap had his chances but he chose poorly. He chumped the NFL bigly.
the NFL wanted to make sure they didn’t get hit with another lawsuit.”
Pathetic.
I still want to shave a freeway from brow to neck, dye his hair red and sing him a song.
Shave his head and paint it red, doo dah, doo dah, shave his head and paint it red, oh da doo dah day.
That’s funny!
I’m surprised that the CFL isn’t recruiting him since he has their same value system apparently.
Piss on him. Let him sue then appeal, and sue and appeal and sue and appeal and billed him dry with court and lawyers fees!
Did Mike break wind while making his pronouncements?
I thought that was a picture of Ron White. I thought the soda was a scotch.
True, but then the controversy then slips seamlessly into who should be playing?
Nah. The NFL — or should I say Goodell — wants to provide cover for a few owners who are considering Kaepernick (probably as a backup next season). Goodell is a toadie for the owners. He knows if he scratches the back of a few of the owners that they will run interference for him come contract renewal time. Goodell knows who butters his bread.
After this weekend’s clown show, that is blatantly obvious.
Goodell is a leftist hack. When Texas was considering the keep the creeps out of the girls locker rooms and showers Bill the NFL threatened them with a boycott.
Defense of backs would be looking to take his head off at every opportunity
he knows he would be a marked man and would have his ass kicked
The NFL wanted him to sign a waiver that apparently he had to agree not to sue again.
Of course, he does not want to play.
He’s just another Jussie Smullet.
Moving on...
