Mike Francesa: Kaepernick Doesn't Actually Want To Play In NFL
"He Wants To Cash In Against The League And Off The Field"
On Saturday, free-agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed a 40-minute workout in front of representatives from eight teams. Originally, 25 teams planned to be in attendance for the workout, that was previously scheduled to be at the Atlanta Falcons training facility.
The location of the practice was changed shortly before the start of the workout because of a disagreement over the terms of the workout between Kaepernick's representatives and the NFL.
WFAN's Mike Francesa explained his thoughts on the Kaepernick situation Monday afternoon.
"I told you the whole thing was a farce from the beginning ... to take off and have his own [workout>, he has no intention of playing in the league ... the NFL wanted to make sure they didn't get hit with another lawsuit."
The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who led them to Super Bowl XLVII, hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season.
"I don't think Kaepernick wants to play in the NFL. What he's trying to do is position himself where he can have his big PR day and show he can still get people there. Get a lot of attention, which gets him set for his next payday, commercial he's gonna do, to get his message out. Show everybody I can still throw it, I'm being unjustly kept out of the league, send the whole message ... I think he wants to cash in against the league and cash in off the field ... that's all he's looking for, his payday."
Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the Niners in March 2017 and became a free agent. He went unsigned through the off-season and 2017 training camp.
"If he really wanted to go about it, you'd go through it the quiet way, contact the teams in need, ask if you could work out for that team quietly, without anyone even knowing and show them you still have something left. That stuff has not gone on... you didn't need the public there."
In October 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL, accusing the 32 league owners of collusion to keep him out of the league.
"I think the NFL wants him to go away. The NFL wants no part of him. They don't want the lawsuits or bad publicity... all it is is one side trying to scam the other side."
The real story here is that the NFL punked itself hard over this crap.
It has long been difficult to have any respect for the decision makers in the NFL.
Now it is impossible.
Kaepernick story starts at 5:50.
Crappernut’s just an attention whore.
yes, its pretty obvious he doesn’t want to play
and
he will almost certainly get that wish, too
the way he’s behaved
A little slow on the uptake, Mike.
IF the nfl really wanted him gone they would have shut down the kneeling business right off the bat. Instead they let it fester and now they have this giant pimple on their nose.
The grapes are sour anyway, said the Fox.
Colin Race Pimp Daddy Kaperdink.
Thats his goal.
He's just shaking down the NFL
Could care less
A pox on both their houses. They deserve each other
Wait a secawnd. Wait a secawnd. I have been telling yau this whawle thing was a farce from the beginning!!!
The fact is Kap did not show up for his scheduled workout. Instead, he announced that morning he was going to show up at a high school 60 miles away, which most scouts couldn't make it to.
Kap now wants to be an SJW, not a football player. The way Nike spends its money, that's probably more lucrative than backup QB pay in the NFL, which is all he's maybe qualified for.
If he takes a job as a backup QB, it will kill his buzz for being a spokesman for NIKE. Who wants to buy backup QB merchandise?
I wonder if other marginal/no talent NFL race hustlers are taking notes?
#OKKaeperNike!
The Kap jerked the NFL chains.
