HOUSTON - A fundamentalist Mormon community in Mexico is linked to a triple-homicide that happened in Houston more than three decades ago.
Two brothers and an 8-year-old girl were killed execution-style on June 27, 1988, and investigators would eventually learn the killings were blood atonement for their sin of leaving a polygamous, Mormon cult called The Church of the Lamb of God.
The church, populated primarily of family members, was founded by Ervil LeBaron, a descendant of Mormons who split with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and immigrated to Mexico in the early 20th century to continue the practice of Under LeBarons leadership, the church became a criminal enterprise.
Stolen cars, they were heavy into credit card abuse, forgery, theyd also done a couple of bank robberies, said retired Houston police officer Richard Holland who investigated the murders.

I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth,
and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts,
than by any other book. (History of the Church, 4:461.)
The most correct of any book on earth was a bold statement to make in Joseph Smiths day,
let alone in our day of sophisticated publication.
The statement is still applicable, for the Lord has never rescinded it nor cast doubt upon it.

#65 still calls out to be answered.
Book of Mormon change: Instead of being the "principal ancestors" of American Indians, Lamanites are now......among the ancestors of the American Indians.
[The original phrase and the changes are noted in Red and bold for emphasis]
In the Introduction to the Book of Mormon the second paragraph reads: The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The record gives an account of the two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., and afterward separated into two nations, known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. The other came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel. This group is known as the Jaredites. After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians.
This was included in the first printing runs of the Doubleday Edition. In the latest printing of the Doubleday Edition of the Book of Mormon, the last sentence was changed to read: ...After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians. The interesting thing is this change is not published anywhere. Additionally, the new Doubleday Edition still lists itself as a first edition. I am no publisher, but my understanding was when you made changes, you listed it as a second, third, etc. edition. The second edition also indicates that it is still first printing, which would be impossible since the change was made. [post further down explains the publishing numbering practices] |

Was thinking the same. Romney related?
One weird thing I discovered recently is that the Mormon church was actually founded in the woods a couple of miles away from where I live right now, near Rochester New York
What I’ve heard, and I have no evidence of this but rumor, is that the family was involved in smuggling weapons over the border for one of the cartels. Now that cartel is being attacked by a rival cartel, so the LeBarons are being attacked as their allies. Not saying that it’s true, but that’s a story I’ve heard that explains it. Clearly this was a targeted killing and not some random wrong-place-wrong-time thing.
