PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A woman was shot by a homeowner after breaking into a house on Strasburg Drive in Port Charlotte, according to deputies.
Jessica Gutzler, 40, broke into the home around 7 p.m. then started fighting the homeowner, Robert Lafata.
During the fight, Lafata said he shot Gutzler in her butt.
He said Gutzler used to date one of his female friends.
Gutzler then ran away, but later called 911 asking for medical assistance.
Deputies found her near Strasburg Drive and Seaton Avenue, then took her to a medical facility to be treated.
She will be charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling - unarmed, making an assault or battery once she's released.

When I was 17, the blue-eyed (16y/o) blonde “girl-next-door” ran away to FL and wound up in Port Charlotte at her grandmother’s home.
Well, we didn’t actually run.
Since I didn’t have a car, we took the Greyhound...kinda like the last scene in The Graduate.
Upon returning to Ohio, I officially became a Juvenile Delinquent and had my own Probation Officer I saw each week....all because of a short sight seeing trip.
Even though I had almost straight As, the principal removed me from the Honor Society.
Moral of the story? Don’t use Greyhound.

Was she seated on Seaton Avenue after being shot in the seat, inquiring minds want to know.
That’s a girl??? Wow, my aunt lived in art Charlotte back in the early 80’s, I remember it being a nice place with lots of canals I could not go swimming in because of the alligators.
