Yale shocker: 29.5 million illegal immigrants, 3X higher than Census number
Washington Examiner ^ | September 23, 2018 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 11/15/2019 12:08:11 AM PST by Windflier

The illegal immigrant population is as high as 29.5 million, far more than the 11 million accepted by experts and the government, according to an explosive new report from three Yale University experts.

“Our results lead us to the conclusion that the widely accepted estimate of 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the United States is too small. Our model estimates indicate that the true number is likely to be larger, with an estimated 95 percent probability interval ranging from 16.2 to 29.5 million undocumented immigrants,” said their report published by PLOS One, an academic journal.

The authors from Yale School of Management, Mohammad M. Fazel-Zarandi, Jonathan S. Feinstein, Edward H. Kaplan, said the average in their new model is about 22 million, exactly twice the number accepted by the Census Bureau and other experts.

“The mean estimate based on our simulation analysis is 22.1 million, essentially double the current widely accepted estimate,” they wrote.

The estimate considers the flow of illegals differently than other models.

The report, however, was assailed by the Center for Immigration Studies that has long surveyed the population of illegal immigrants and is a proponent of curbing it.

Steven Camarota, the Center's director of research, issued a statement rejecting the Yale numbers.

“The findings are unsupportable. Accepting that there are 22 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. also requires accepting that every Census Bureau survey missed huge numbers of people and that most administrative data from the federal government is woefully incomplete. There is no body of research that corroborates such a claim,” he wrote.

The new report is sure to heat up the debate in Washington over the illegal immigrant population and the costs associated with housing and caring for them.

We’re going to need mass deportations for years.

More like 40 million legals invading here but at least this is a good and faily truthful start at 29.5 million ...... By the way subcons/ aka sub continentals (India Pakistan Bangladesh) are major invaders these days. Same for Chinese. Meanwhile there was major dust up in UK when 40 Vietnamese recently died in a refrigerated truck hauled container off a ship from Belgium ...into an Essex port that is much less patrolled.

Each representative in congress represents about 750,000 people. That means about 53 members of the house represent illegals.

Not a shocker and didn’t need a Yale education to know the number of 11 million has long ago been surpassed.

I thought of that but I want every available means used to deport them, not just boats.

;)

Re: Accepting that there are 22 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. also requires accepting that every Census Bureau survey missed huge numbers of people...

As far as I know, these surveys are conducted by mail, not by personal contact.

The idea that half, or even two thirds, of illegals lie or ignore the survey seems completely reasonable to me.

This is pretty funny. I didn’t go to Yale nor do I have an advanced degree, but I have been saying for at least a decade that the true number was likely 3x the quoted number. All my liberal “friends” have looked at me like I’m crazy when I’ve said the number was somewhere between 20 and 30 million.

Either that or make life here so difficult for them, they want to leave on their own. Wishful thinking on my part.

Well imagine that.I have been saying that the illegal migrant population in this country was well over 40 million people and that was during Obama’s run for President.

Now we finally get the news by a liberal institution like Yale saying its 10 million lower than that.

Either it was a lucky guess on my part or a gigantic lie by our crooked Rat politicians.

30+ million sounds about right.

Now what is our law breaking congress going to do about it?

They will not start doing anything until they need a smoke screen to cover their asses from some type of investigation into their corruption.

I would not hold my breath on that coming anytime soon

They have been saying 11-12 million since the early 2000s, and that’s the number the Democrats spout whenever the subject comes up.

They have ignored that millions of illegals have entered the US during the Bush and Obama years and that illegals don’t give a F about the Census Bureau.

The figure today is likely 32-40 million illegals.

They have been saying 14-20 million illegals for DECADES. It would think a conservative estimate would be around 80 million by now including their illegal spawn.
