Simonis said the letter did not address any of the other decorations in their yard.
"Maintenance - holiday decorations need to be removed," the letter obtained by NBC affiliate WOAI in San Antonio reads. "Please remove the snowman until closer to the holiday season."
Simonis said she and her family have lived in the subdivision for four years and have never received a letter like this before.

The guy next door just leaves his lights up all year round ,LOL

Christmas lights now go up much earlier, mainly because the Indians decorate in late October for Diwali, so now everyone else just goes along and puts up the lights then.

Who told them to take it down? The headline should say it:
their homeowners’ association. Those associations can make whatever rules they like. This is a non-story.

There was one family in my working-class neighborhood when I was growing up who left their Christmas decorations up permanently. Someone had the energy to string some lights, and put a plastic Santa on their roof, but these things never came down.
Their Dad was a bit of drinker, they also didn’t mow their lawn, and they had a couch on their front porch.

"Please remove the snowman until closer to the holiday season." Should have taken it down and put it back up the next day. Closer to the holiday season.

Im pregnant. And it took us forever to put them up," she said, adding that won't take down any of the decorations. "If anything, were adding more stuff.
And that's why the "too early" regulation. Pretty soon she'd be putting them up on Labor Day.

It’s ridiculous that Oct. 1st has become the first day of everything (but Jesus) Christmas.

People are always in too big of a hurry to put up Christmas decor.
And when did Halloween become a month long celebration?
Ugh.

Never ever move into an HOA. If they later try to get an HOA, don’t join.

All they’d had to do is say it was for Muhammed’s birthday last Sunday.
Nov. 10. I had to look up the islamic holidays for their exemption.

Diwali? WTF?
Lights go up early because Christmas has been commercially shoved down our throats starting right after Labor Day. It's a conditioned response.
I'm already so sick of Christmas I could puke ... and I loved Christmas!
