This Friday, Elon Musk's The Boring Company, will begin work on its $52.5 million underground people mover at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
A release sent out by the LVCVA states that the company's boring machine has been put in place, and will begin tunneling at the convention center on Friday at 3 p.m.
The people mover, which travel through two one-mile tunnels across the convention center's 200-acre campus, is designed to transport convention-goers to various destinations in about one minute.

Well, that’s faster than a lead fart, and slower than Star Trek transporter beams.
So...~60 mph. Why didn't the author just say that?
That’s cool.
Musk seems to be spreading himself pretty thin.
He’s going to blow a gasket if he doesn’t spend some time chilling out.
Wonder how many earthquakes hes going to trigger.
Unofficial slogan “More boring that the impeachment hearings”...
How many wanna bet THIS thing digs the tunnels on Mars & the moon..?
Will he find an alternative place for poor Jenni Lee to live
Poor thing
Its pitiful
Wonder what precautions he’s made about the underground river that runs under the strip?
Las Vegas needs to park their street bums somewhere...
Is the expense worth it just to award Elon Musk with another taxpayer supplied boondoggle?
“Is the expense worth it?”
We’ll have to wait and see. The major new thing about these tunnels is their small diameter which makes them cheaper to create.
It was a competitive contract. The Boring Company gave Las Vegas a much better deal.
The foreman’s name is Max Zorin. Should wr be worried?

I hope he doesn’t accidentally run into one of those secret underground alien bases!
(Oh wait I hope he does)
Is the cost binding, no matter any delays or any unforseen problems?
The article says that if The Boring Company doesn’t complete the project and obtain a certificate of occupancy, then Las Vegas owes them nothing.
I can remember watching, July 1975, the foundation construction for the casino/hotel... There's not too many things noisier and more impressive than an open-ended, unrestricted, approx 25-inch diameter, high-pressure gas pipe laying on the ground surface blowing a 150-to-300 foot, directed flame across the construction foundation hole...
Water just kept on percolating...
Biggest blowtorch, not a weapons test, that I ever saw...
My kids really loved it... Almost as much as they enjoyed, almost across Sahara, eating a piece of Marie Callenders strawberry-rhubarb pie and ice cream...
James Bond or the operating system? Either way, worry.

Well yes, obviously. But if it takes longer than expected and runs into significant cost overruns due to unforseen problems, who pays the extra costs?? Is it a flat cost to LV, no matter what it costs Musk?
