John Legend, Kelly Clarkson release updated version of 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'

John Legend and Kelly Clarkson just dropped the updated version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

The two "Voice" coaches collaborated to create a modernized version of the Christmas classic — fully of reworked lines in light of the original’s growingly controversial lyrics.

In the original tune, which has been covered by many artists since its debut, a female sings: "I really can’t stay,” to which a man responds: "But baby, it’s cold outside.” In another part of a song, a woman is heard singing lines like "Say what's in this drink?", "The answer is no" and "I've gotta get home."

I’m really beginning to dread Christmas these days because of the insipid music. Can’t even turn on the radio for fear of having to endure Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You”.

Hmmmm. Is it even possible to make this horrible song listenable? No.

I was once having a “wonderful Christmas time”, but unfortunately the Paul MCCartney song began playing and spoiled it all. Paul’s worst song ever!

Paul’s worst song ever!

Well I would say his duets with Michael Jackson were much worse.

So I guess “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” or “Sleigh Ride” or “Let it Snow” or “Jingle Bells” is right out too?

As for Vince Guaraldi and Peanuts, sure not all the songs from the show or album are “religious” but A Charlie Brown Christmas, aside from the songs Skating and Linus and Lucy and Für Elise, they were all Christmas songs. As for A Charlie Brown Christmas …..

A Charlie Brown Christmas - True Meaning

And FWIW - Feliz Navidad means "Merry Christmas, a prosperous year and happiness", the Spanish version and not all that different from “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”

Tony Bennett and GAGa did a great remake of the song several years ago.

I have a CD called Beauty and the Beard which features Ann-Margaret and Al Hirt. They do a wonderful, flirtatious version of "Baby", and it is my favorite. And, it is my belief that this song is about flirting. Apparently, we do not "flirt" anymore; probably because the guy would lose his job.

Actually, the entire album was just fun. You could hear it in the voices as they were doing the songs that they were having a good time doing this album.

How to turn a bit of playful, classy flirting into a vile sexual assault.

I despise these loathsome creatures. They’ve destroyed romance.

LOL! It was fitting that Jackson stabbed Paul in the back, stealing all the Beatle music.

I didn't say I dislike secularism in Christmas tunes. I said that for decades the elements of seduction and trying to get into someone's nickers have turned me off to BICO as being part of the Christmas musical canon.

Charlie Brown Christmas is an outstanding example of greatness emanating from defense of principle. The network et al thought Linus' speech (and a few other things) would kill the show. In reality, it made Charlie Brown Christmas on of the greatest "secular" Christmas specials ever.

I also love Rudolph, Elf, and a few other non-religious specials. However, you'll notice that Buddy, even though he and Jolie get together ultimately, wasn't trying to "hit it."

The left's disdain for BICO has noting to do with my disdain for that song. This is opportunistic woke-y-ness. There are oodles of songs about seduction, and to be sure the lyrics are more caustic ("It's So Easy" comes to mind). However, that GnR favorite isn't on my Christmas playlist, and I don't see Kelly Clarkson and John Legend railing against and remaking those lyrics.

And I would still take that over John and Yoko's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)". Now, that one makes me want to take out my flamethrower.

Any of the newer Christmas songs are terrible.
Today’s performers cannot sing well. The lyrics are whiny. Even when they cover the classic songs they do so poorly.
I also hate any song from say Dean Martin or Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra that has today’s performers singing along.

Bill Cosby's favorite Christmas song.

That songs follows me whenever I am in a public place such as a supermarket. The first few notes are akin to fingernails on a blackboard. Non-”holiday” music, it is anything by Whitney Houston especially an annoying song with the word “Everybody” in it. Wanna see someone waling around a supermarket with his fingers in his ears? That would be me.

Oh, remember Captain Sensible’s video on MTV called “Wot”? I saw it the other day. With your knowledge on music and our past discussions, you likely remember it.
