And not eating for a period, fasting, is NOT starvation.

After day 1 of fasting, maybe 16 or 20 hours, the body burns pure fat. It is remarkable.

From day 2 onward, you are losing 2 pounds of fat per day. With an accurate gravity scale, you can see the loss. One week of fasting, resets the body.

The best diet occurs day 2 onward. As long as you can go.

Two pounds of fat a day, is the body equivalent energy needed to live.

It is amazing really.

I did my FIRST 3 day fast this past May.

I haven’t felt THAT GOOD afterwards since my 20s.

I did three 3 day fasts in May and June and for the first time in maybe TWENTY YEARS my cholesterol and triglycerides were normal.

My fasting glucose went to 85 from 93.

Simply amazing.

It wasn’t easy. It WAS worth it.

Have kept the weight off but NEED to get in the mindset to do it again.

I’m a stress eater. And WOW can I stress eat!!

You’re generally correct, except it would take something like a serious endurance athlete in training to burn off that much a day. When you deplete your body of carbs as you describe, there is also a fairly quick drop in water retained in the body. That contributes to, though doesn’t fully cover, why the body appears to be losing so much more wait at the initiation of a fasting, keto or similar diet.

Sorry, but 2 pounds of fat per day isn’t right, except maybe for marathon trainers and people like them. There’s a lot of energy in fat (roughly 3500 calories), so it comes out to about 2/3’s of a pound per day (with people burning 2300 calories per day). So to lose 2 pounds of fat, you need 3 days of complete fasting...unless you do have exercise. For example, walk 12 miles per day while fasting, and you’ll reach one pound of fat burning per day (walking is roughly 100 calories per mile). To get to 2 pounds, you’ll need to walk another 35 miles, which isn’t possible, for most of us at least.

And trust me, the numbers above are good for most men other than severely overweight, at least related to non-exercise part. I’ve been able to predict my weight virtually to the pound 2 months out using them...with many fasts, and the factors above can also be found by simple searches.
