Well what margin is SAFE?
If you’re the Jets, 61 to 13 going into the fourth quarter isn’t enough :)
YES I am a long suffering “fan”.
I see the problem: This locale has a frickin’ “lopsided score committee”.
Good gad.
When score ‘out of control’ the WORST thing they can do is put the subs in.
If I were a ‘sub’ the first thing I would want to do is impress the coach that I shouldn’t be a sub.
Coach has ‘no control’ over the subs, what is he going to do bench them?
At least with first team in he can threaten to bench them if they continue to run up the score.
ON THE OTHER HAND.....if you tell your team to ‘lay down’ ONCE, you are in danger of them doing it on their own because ‘you’ had said it was OK.
Then again, I believe it is politer leaving the toilet seat UP so the next person will at least be able to think the last guy hadn’t whizzed on the seat.
BUT there is always a chance one will whizz on the seat then raise it so you think he (or she) didn’t.
SOMETIMES ONE JUST DOESN’T KNOW....
They want to teach kids to feel guilty about success.
Instead they should have a mercy rule and end the game early. Other options are to go to a running clock after a certain margin has been exceeded.
I could see if he was running pass plays in the 4th quarter to
pad the score but if he was in a 4th quarter running game to run out the clock and end the misery, it should make no difference whether he was using his first string or second string to achieve the objective of running out the clock. He cannot help it if the opposing team had a bad running defense unless the committee expected him to play defense against himself
Having said that ... theyre morons for suspending the coach, or even for making a big deal about it in public.
Heading to T-ball rules. All tie games.
They may grow up to be mass murderers.
And Epstein didn't kill himself
They were playing a team that was undefeated.
Occam’s Razor:
“Play fairly but now you are playing too well, dont play anymore for the rest of the game? Wheres the life lessons”
The libtard lesson is, “Don’t be all you can be”...or something.
4th quarter, I'm kneeling on every play on offense (after running max allowed time). Then, I'll punt. My defense will just stand there 15 yards off the ball and watch you run by for a touchdown. Repeat.
In other words, I'll "play fair" by your stupid rules, but I'm going to humiliate you in the process.
Coach did not fix the game by suppressing the score sufficiently.
I graduated from Plainedge in 1964.
If they feel so strongly about this, why dont they change the rules so the refs automatically end the game when the margin is 5 or 6 touchdowns?
That way theres no ambiguity, no guessing what score is enough to ensure winning, no doubt about whether or not the coaches actions are sufficient.
They set the rules, theyve just done a really bad job. Typical dem solution..
When you are up by that much you put in the scrubs. If the scrubs score, there isnt much you can do about it.
You pass if your run game is good. You try stuff youve been meaning to try. You let people play roles they dont usually play.
There are a ton of ways to slow things down.
You never tell the team to stop trying.
Two problems here.....trying to lay down on purpose causes a lack of practiced technique and is going to create injuries. And when the losing team gets openly embarrassed by the other team playing with them, they are going to take some questionable hits out of anger. Both are dangerous and I have seen both. And then the parents in the stands square off. Bad idea to purposely slack. Call remainder of game and take them off the schedule it it is that bad. At that point it is teaching the kids nothing. Buffalo Bills pull off greatest comeback in NFL history
“On this day in 1993, backup quarterback Frank Reich leads the Buffalo Bills to a 41-38 overtime victory over the Houston Oilers in an American Football Conference (AFC) wild card playoff game that will forever be known to football fans as The Comeback.”
...”putting the score at 35-3. At this point, many Bills fans headed home...convinced the game was lost.”
...”the Bills had cut their deficit to four points, in a span of only six minutes and 52 seconds.”
“...winning the game for Buffalo 41-38 and completing the largest comeback victory (32 points) in National Football League (NFL) history.”
