Screens are fattening? Why am I only 92lb.?
47 kids....good luck with that.
Parents who put kids, particularly little kids, in front of screens for hours a day (rather than giving them a pencil and paper) get EXACTLY what they deserve.
I see it as a matter similar to exercise of a muscle.
The brain when viewing a screen has to process less then it would through interactive play or reading. Less “exercise” means a weaker brain.
Increase the quantity and number of activities and don’t just let the children watch a screen. I’m sure a lot of this is parents who “don’t have enough time” to spend with their little one...after all what their doing is so important (sarc)
I am absolutely appalled that the “new thing” in “parenting” is to hand very young children a cell phone with a kiddie movie playing and use it as a babysitter. I also am appalled that many very young kids will only eat if they can watch mental mush on a cell phone while they idly shovel the food into their mouths, not paying any attention to it. Only the cell phone movie captures their attention. I’ve seen young moms in restaurants hand over their phones to their toddlers while the mom gabs away to her friend, etc. and had a foreboding feeling that now we will have a generation of little screen addicts who are not learning anything, not having tactile experiences, not being taught manners, not being taught ANYTHING, just passing time filling their developing minds with trash. So, I am not surprised at the results of this study. I predicted it.
