German Health Minister Jens Spahn sent a clear, important signal on Monday when he declared that “homosexuality is not a disease and therefore does not need therapy to be treated.” He fleshed out his plans to ban so-called gay conversion therapy in Germany. The practice purports to transform homosexuals into heterosexuals. According to Spahn, anyone still found offering such “conversion therapies” will face up to one year in jail or a steep fine.
Spahn’s step is both important and, unfortunately, still rather timely. That’s because many Germans are probably not even aware that each year, thousands of teenagers and adults are subjected to “conversion therapy” for the purpose of changing their sexual identity. This is inhumane, and there is no evidence that such treatment can permanently alter a person’s sexual orientation. What is known, however, is that such therapies can cause depression, anxiety disorders and significantly increase the chances of a person committing suicide.
Not only that, in some European Union member states, such as Poland, gay and lesbian people are increasingly facing discrimination. Similarly, in the Balkans, every day members of the LGBT+ community live in fear of violence and discrimination. And in Russia, homosexuality is criminalized as a form of “non-traditional sexual relationship” — gays and lesbians who refuse to hide their sexual identity risk steep fines or even jail time. …

If one cannot call his own homosexual urges a disease, he/she cannot by extension call it a problem or a disorder. In other words, one cannot complain about it even if it is a trait they have that they do not like or consider problematic OR a trait they would just prefer to change.

It is not a disease, it is a BEHAVIOUR. And behaviors can be modified according to my Mom........................

No, it is NOT a disease. Neither are addictions diseases. However, both can benefit from therapy.
Being a boy, or a girl, is not a disease, and requires no therapy to treat.
Discomfort with one’s sex is sufficient grounds to bring in the all forces of modern progressive medicine to “change” that sex, and the forces of law and society to make others accede to that change.
But discomfort with one’s attractions does not permit a bit of talk therapy, to see if those attractions could shift.
Homosexuality is not a disease, but most homosexuals have STDs. Homosexuality is a learn behavior triggered by mental illness.
At the very least homosexuality between men is a perversion of nature. Women are naturally feminine so they are half way there already. It’s not that much of a leap for women but for men, well, I can’t see how two men could possibly be attracted to each other and do what they do in bed. It’s unnatural in my humble opinion.
Maybe this is why women are so much more accepting of homosexuality. Maybe this is also why they so easily accept a man can become a woman (Trans). I think both deserve a non-biased study. This isn’t just about being a liberal or conservative. This is about nature and the word of God. To accept homosexuality means God screwed up. I put up with it, not that I have a choice, but never accepted it as “normal”. It’s a choice to be that kind of perverted.
Technically it’s a perversion.
Female homosexuality is just as unnatural and they come by it like the males do.
My conservative mother would never tolerate lesbianism any more than male sodomy.

But there is also no gay gene. It is optional.

It used to be. Is there some paper or thesis that establishes the change in prognosis or was a magic wand waved and different terminology arbitrarily applied?
