President Trump has announced he intends to prove to the American people that his phone conversation with Ukraines president was indeed proper and unimpeachable. During a Thursday interview, the president said he might read the transcript of the July 25th call live on television. The reading would be held as a fireside chat, recreating the famous broadcasts delivered by President Franklin Roosevelt.

Sounds like a splendid idea!
Eh, I don’t think so. He could certainly cover the highlights, but sitting down and reading it....that doesn’t sound like Trump.
NO. Shows weakness. Instead, start firing up the special prosecutors and fight like hell.
Saying he’ll do it sounds exactly like Trump.
“Eh, I dont think so. He could certainly cover the highlights, but sitting down and reading it....that doesnt sound like Trump.”
Have James Earl Jones read it with the Ukranian dialogue being read by Yakof Smirnoff.
Somehow the MSM will get ahold of it and chop it all up making Trump saying things he didn’t say.
He needs to find an alternative to twitter before he is completely banned. A weekly streaming fireside chat would be fantastic.
It depends on how dramatic a reader he is.
I wouldn’t do it if I was Trump: 1) not his style 2) makes himself seem weak, a hostage or too reliant on his audience 3) it won’t change people’s opinions 4) people are going to think of Clinton’s “I didn’t have sex” speech 5) Get Mark Levin (without the raise in voice) to address make Trump’s case — the best and most logical one I’ve seen 6) mention it at every rally and that’s sufficient.
We’re still waiting for results of investigations with regards to political favors connected to regime change in Ukraine. Because they aren’t released, the dems are framing the discussion. A fireside chat or infomercial might be the only way to get the facts straight. The issue shouldn’t be President Trump, it should be corruption in Ukraine which led to favors for friends, relatives, and deep pocket donors of DC pols. It’ll cut across the spectrum, but so what.
I agree with those who say the a fireside chat doesn't match President Trump's style. However, a session on the corruption in the Ukraine, starting out with the youtube of Biden bragging about extorting the Ukrainians, would really be a slam dunk.
The down side is that the campaign is probably holding off on the Biden youtube in case Biden becomes the nominee of the Democrats.
No. Looks weak; use the moment to attack what the dems are doing, but DO NOT explain yourself or it legitimizes their premise.
Heh. I kind of like that. I had to remind myself who Yakov Smirnoff is. I found this. Check it out. It’s pretty funny

You people giving President Trump advice are funny.
I kind of thought the same thing. My first instinct was “hell no”. My second one was Trump knows Trump and has made very few mistakes following his instincts.
Probably not a good idea. No one under 40 watches TV. And those who would watch already support President Trump — they don’t need convincing. (Oh, plus the media would watch and afterward report a distorted view point of it all.)
YES! Shows in your face suck it democrats.........
Great idea. The media will be forced to cover it.
He’s trolling again, Jim
He just tossed it out there as a “maybe”
He gets more coverage of trolling them with the possibility than he would of any speech
