The Independent, 2000:
Snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain's culture, as warmer winters which scientists are attributing to global climate change produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries
Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community
According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event". "Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said.

Some don’t know now and some never did.
It’s true.
Kids in the deep south might never see snow.
Kids in Michigan, OTOH, see a lot.
In New Orleans, this disparity was addressed by rich philanthropists who used their “white privilege” by hauling in several tons of the white stuff & dumping it in a pile in City Park, and sponsoring a snowball fight.
A splendid time was enjoyed by all.
A couple of winters later, it snowed in New Orleans.
As a result of global warming?
Or climate change?
Or because once every 20 years or so is typical?

The Mono County Sheriffs Office says a helicopter crew spotted the bodies Monday at an elevation of about 12,000 feet (3,650 meters).
Because of high winds and steep terrain recovery efforts were delayed until the following day.
Its Halloween, and we are concerned that the children wont make it through the snow.
I love living in Los Angeles, my home town. I never have to see snow. Every once in awhile, someone wants to go to Big Bear or Lake Tahoe. I usually pass.

That is a ridiculous statement on its face. A climate pattern can’t become rare in a “few years”. It may become rare FOR a few years, but that’s meaningless too.
Move to Siberia, there will be snow there.
In NE Oklahoma, it usually does not snow till around Thanksgiving Day. We had a dusting of snow last night and freezing temps.
Besides, they have claimed “no more snow” for years.
And many of us old timers who had to work out in that stuff would just as well not see anymore.
4 inches on the ground Halloween morning in Missouri and 21 degrees. The global warming is killing us.
Muslims cant handle snow.
Within the last few years I remember British papers moaning that the winders were going to be colder than they had been for a hundred years. What happened?
Does this writer lie much?! IIRC several years in a row now, Merry Olde England has been frozen stiff for stretches of the winter. It appears that if the much vaunted climate change doesn’t actually happen, types like this guy will lie and say it did, anyhow.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting here on Halloween looking out the window and seeing the first snow flakes of the season...
I’d love to have seen this moron locked in my back yard this week, freezing in the October white stuff.
October 4, 2019:
“UK heavy snow alert: Britain faces COLDEST winter in decades - long-range weather forecast
BRITAIN is on alert for what is feared could be the coldest and most savage winter in decades to hit in October blanketing the UK in deep snow beyond Christmas and into 2020.”
It was written in the year 2000 and republished in 2013
Uh huh. Monday morning I was at Schwab’s in Sandpoint Idaho getting my snowy-tahrs on the mobile and I’m joking with the lady at the desk, who’s telling me that the place is a zoo the morning after the first snow, especially if they haven’t laid on the temporary staff yet. By the time I was home and garaged, it was snowing. And it isn’t even November.
Tonight at the San Luis Valley Regional Airport near Monte Vista Co. the temps are expected to be about 4 degrees..
Coldest October day on record in Denver Metro area. (-4 F)
In addition to the snow 2 weeks ago, we got another FOOT of snow Mon, Tues, Wed.
