You do realize that show was where the popular practice of disrespecting police officers for no good reason came from, right? (And of course, the reciprocity from the disrespected officers, etc.).

There are a lot of stealth socialist themes in that show. No surprise, because Andy Griffiths was *very* liberal.

The 1950s and 1960s were the end of Hollywood being driven by conservative America, and the very budding beginnings of embracing liberalism. It was subtle, sparse, and toned-down. Of course every TV show began to turn liberal in the 1960s. By today’s standards however, it is light years more conservative.
