I had to put my cat to sleep today, he was suffering. What a good boy, I shall miss him. I know he was only a cat, but I sure did love his company. He was an unusual and interesting cat. He worshiped my wife and followed her around as if she were some kind of feline deity, but would deign to spend some time with me as well.
Damn. I sure will miss him.

If you’ve never had children and raised them from kittens and have a close bond with them, it is that emotional.
Very Sad to lose a pet.
Not exactly sure why we are given these animal partners
probably to help us learn something important about life
and help us teach it to our children.
I didn’t have a dog or cat growing up but
my wife did and brought pets into our new family.
We had others but Jasper was really my first dog
we became good friends and
if he’s not there at the pearly gates waiting for me
I suppose I’ll just keep on walkin till I find him.

I had a similar experience with a beloved cat that was clearly dying. I inquired about having the cat put to sleep, but waited and the cat died naturally just a few days later. I am glad I didn’t have her euthanized. Let God take her life, not an impersonal veterinarian. We don’t put people to sleep for the same reason. The cat was just very sick and tired, not in pain.
Yellow tabbies are such sweet cats. You were lucky to have him— and he was lucky to have you and your dear wife.
We have four cats here, and two are reaching an age when they will soon be called. So hard. We do love our pets.
I had an orange tabby Mr. Marmalade he was quite a talker very special kitty passed at a very young age of a stroke!!!
So sorry about your loss. The loss of a beloved pet causes real grief.
My sympathies - destroys me when one of my furry loved ones passes away - many times over the years and it never gets any easier.
Just a cat? No. A total part of your family that God brought to you to love and enjoy.
Not just a cat, but a gift from God.
I am so sorry for your loss. We had to let go one of our cats this past June. She was 20 years old. Just as with humans, remember the good times with them. They will never be far away.
I pray that neither of you are apart for any significant length of time ... here or in eternity.
