Editor's note: Sports Illustrated has released a statement regarding the Astros' response to this story. The Astros initially declined to comment for this piece. After this story was published, the team released a statement in which they did not deny Brandon Taubmans comments, and insisted he was supporting the player during a difficult time. Multiple journalists have corroborated Sports Illustrateds reporting.
HOUSTON More than an hour after José Altuve won the Astros the pennant, the party in the Houston clubhouse still raged. Rightfielder Josh Reddick was crushing vodka Red Bulls. Starter Gerrit Cole smoked a cigar. Shortstop Carlos Correa gazed lovingly at the American League championship trophy.
And in the center of the room, assistant general manager Brandon Taubman turned to a group of three female reporters, including one wearing a purple domestic-violence awareness bracelet, and yelled, half a dozen times, Thank God we got Osuna! Im so f------ glad we got Osuna!

My take is it went like this
She is vocal about this guy that the league deemed was guilty.
She protests.
She wore a bracelet to protest
The Astros know she protests.
That manager did taunt her. With foul language.
It was basically a F you to her.
Whether he was right or wrong is up to each individual.
And now the League
Me neither. But this has been a big issue with that reporter and the Astros due to the guy who got suspended for 75 games.
So he may have known...but even if he didn’t..that reporter has been vocal about her opinion
“Women should not be in the locker room.”
Women shouldn’t be anywhere near men’s sports, and especially not as talking heads or writers.
I guess they could be allowed to attend games, so long as they keep the yakety-yak to a minimum.
“It was basically a F you to her.”
Seems appropriate to me.
Like Jesus teaches? The author is a freak.
Those Houston bastards! Can’t those sons of b*tches learn some manners? See, it’s rubbing off!
I am going to be pissed if I lose my World Series Bet because they are distracted by this mess
All women have to do is say something.....ANYTHING....and men/politicians/corporations or whatever fold like cheap suits! I’m sick of this woman thing.......they have NO BUSINESS in the men’s locker room to begin with but if they want equality then MAN UP AND SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!
“The reporter likely wore the bracelet to taunt and protest the Astros.”
Then they should have booted her ass out and rescinded her press credential. The Astros aren’t required to give her a platform to posture as a self-appointed moral scold.
He has now been fired.
