The Houston Astros entered the top of the ninth inning Saturday night Game 6 of the ALCS with a 4-2 lead, only to have the New York Yankees tie the score thanks to a two-run home run from D.J. LaMahieu. But in the bottom half of the inning, with two outs and George Springer on first base, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve stepped to the plate and sent the 2-1 offering from Aroldis Chapman over the left field wall. The 5-foot-6 Venezuelans walk-off home run advanced the Astros in dramatic style.

And the first thing the 29-year-old Altuve did after sending the Astros to their second World Series in three years was give glory to God.
First, I want to thank God and all the fans for the beautiful game, for the beautiful playoffs, he told FOXs Ken Rosenthal. Altuve later added, Running around the bases, the only thing I was thinking was thanking God and just thinking that were going to the World Series once again.

Maybe Mattress Mac is not the only one with $8 million riding on the Astros.
I saw this last night. Altuve is a genuine superstar who has humility.
Agreed. Me, too. Altuve is a great ball player.
I was hoping NYY would win to set up an Acela WS, but two thumbs up for Altuve.
That is some good sportsmanship.
The Yankees played some amazing baseball. We Astros fans can only revere the clubs great history.
This series was.a e tribute to so much that is good. Glad the Astros won but also grateful for the Yankees and their history of excellencie
HOORAY Jose!
Thanks. I love the Yankees tradition. Their uniforms are the best original traditional. I love that Steinbrenner insisted they be clean shaven with short hair. BUT WE now just watch on TV. Can’t afford the games at the new stadium.
Im a Nats fan but I really like Altuve.
Cool indeed.
Would be a nice addition to our Astros! :-)
Nah. Yankees need Judge’s humility. Stripes look good on a tall guy. Lol.
It was a terrific series that I will long remember.
Now bring on those Gnats!
I hear you on that. That said, we do try to attend the Astros when we can. I might even splurge for the World Series...I figure it’s once in a lifetime.
The Astros are really a big deal in Houston. And its all so positive. They are good guys, they work and try so incredibly hard. They bring out the whole city and we all love them, and there’s nothing to argue and fight about. This is good.
It was especially good for Houston to win in 2017 after Harvey. That really did a LOT for the city.
Sounds like the Nats and Astros have set up a great World Series!
Good luck!!
I remember reading about Altuve and a friend of his, also from Venezueala, but no longer with the Astros. I think he went to the Twins.
Anyways, Altuve said...”Yeah, he will probably be my best forever. Just not on game day.”
That’s a pro right there. Not only what you want from a ball player, but as a human being.
