Hell, it might be preferable to not have to look out the window and watch a bum drop a deuce on your sidewalk. Hang a few prints of the Colorado Rocky mountains on the wall and call it a day.

Stick up a few wireless webcams and hang an LCD monitor wherever you want a window. Don’t like the view? Change the channel! Just don’t be surprised if north becomes west or if all directions look the same!

I think this idea would actually be a way to make houses more energy efficient, since real windows don't insulate well. Put embedded viewscreens where ever a window would normally go, with a camera to the outside. You could display the outside view or just anything you wanted.
