California to require abortion medication at public colleges

California will be the first state to require abortion medication on college campuses under a law signed Friday by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The law takes effect in 2023 and only applies to the 34 campuses in the University of California and California State University systems. But the law will only be implemented if a state commission can raise more than $10 million in private donations to pay for it.

Former California Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a similar bill last year, arguing it was not necessary because abortion services were readily available off campus.

But Newsom, who took office in January, said the law is needed “as other states and the federal government go backward, restricting reproductive freedom.”

Several Republican-led states, including Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi, have passed laws banning abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected. Abortion-rights groups are challenging those laws in court. …

“as other states and the federal government go backward, restricting reproductive freedom.”

Typical liberal manure. No one is stopping someone’s freedom from reproducing. They’re just providing free rules to playing the game but not being responsible for the penalties. And if they can get people to donate to this cause, they deserve the future issues it will produce.....disease, illegal prostitution, and another excuse for students to party too much along with paying attention too little to what they are there for and failing the courses or dropping out because of new commitments. It further raises a society of idiots and fools.

Perfect for third world California.

California is still second world. They’ll only become third world once their infrastructure hits a certain breakdown level.

this is an everyday event in sacramento with governor nuisance this week he cancelled a new freeway and two lanes on an existing one, banned private prisons while the CDC is crying for more beds or fewer inmates, stole 50 billion from state gas tax funds earmarked for roads and maintenance, for illegals and high (now medium) speed train construction.

There is a re-call movement, best wishes His replacement will be a liberal democrat.

Supporting abortion means supporting the ideology behind it.

Interesting timing.

I guess with all the lights out people will do what people do when the power goes out. .

God forbid college kids have babies to compete with all the illegals, I guess.

Hard to judge that. they are #19 in the nation for violent crimes, they have the highest total public welfare expenditures at around $98.5 billion of any state in the union, they are the ninth highest taxed state, they are #19 in air pollution, they are 29th in business start cost rankings, they are one of the five states that combined have better than half of all homeless in the nation with the second most homeless people in a city with Los Angeles. Within the top ten cities in the US, are also San Diego County and city, San Jose/Santa Clara county and city, and San Francisco. this means they have 4 of the top 10 most homeless people cities in the nation. And for dirtiest cities in the US, Both Los Angeles and San Francisco are in the top 5.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for California, but there is a chance they could be considered a third world nation by themselves with this alone.

I lived in Sacramento in the good old days...’50’s through early ‘70’s. Loved it - loved and worked in the the downtown when it was a downtown - K Street with great department stores for shopping on lunch hours. Great memories from that city. Moved to Southern CA and always missed Northern CA. Now we’ve moved from Southern CA and I miss it..

Well, if you believe that calling California “second world” is an expression of enthusiasm, I must take umbrage at being called a communist albeit accidentally.

The second world is the old communist bloc from the Cold War. It is no praise to refer to anywhere as part of the second world. So far, California’s headed in that direction.

No, second world is not a good term to make about anything as it does fall under the Soviet bloc nations around 1954 when the Korean conflict ended.

When I was a boy, living in central California, I would say it was represented that way. But I feel the government has lost control of it with the infusion of so many uncontrollable illegals that they are no longer a tight controlled state. In their efforts to try to change their populous they have “invited” so many that can’t work within the system they are using that they can’t progress to the ultimate control the socialism requires. They have overstepped their capacity and they can’t stop it. And when the money runs out, again, they will be in over their heads more. Hence, third world.

“Oh, the government there is very much in control of the dire happenings.”

I wonder about that. They are in a continual state of bankruptcy like being unable to figure out how to pay their huge, and growing, welfare commitment, the rotating drought problems are not allowing them to stay on top of the water that used to flow out of the Sierras and handle the agriculture business which was their primary business used to employ a majority of the immigrants, legal or otherwise, and their government has grown so big it is now the biggest business in the state. And thanks to the successes of the employment problems tackled and defeated by Trump, their unemployment is down and there are no jobs to fill....homelessness and more welfare making the government bigger yet.

They are going to lose their grip soon. It like the adage I’ve heard that you can do so much with so little so long, you’re now qualified to do anything with nothing. In this case, that is so not true. And they are heading for that nothing rapidly.

More chlamydia, more syphilis, more cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea, more reckless sex and more college women pitifully cramping and expelling the remains of their children into the toilet (think of it as sexual bulimia) --- more depression and anxiety and self-disgust --- and as the years go on, more hormone-responsive neoplasms like breast cancer ---

But at least the sex is great. Right? Right?
