The Mass. white shark interactions with people is coming to a close, for the 2019 season. Mitigation suggestions will be forthcoming shortly for next season from the Woods Hole Group to Cape Cod Towns. A lot of people are staying in knee deep shallow water or just saying ashore. No question the fear of a shark attacks has modified our behavior.

As I wrote in an earlier newspaper article, Both white sharks and seals are Federally protected , seals live about 30 years and white sharks 60-70 years. They are not going away. -tom

There is another reason to not go more than knee deep in the North Atlantic past Columbus Day:

The water is too damn cold.

I don’t even go to the Cape anymore.

Rhode Island: Good surf, warmer water, no sharks, free parking.
