Up until the 1970s white sharks Carcharodon carcharias were called man-eaters.(The movies Blue Water, White Death and Jaws changed that.)

White shark's enormous size results in more fatalities on people than the tiger and bull sharks, two other shark species at the top of the list for fatalities on people.- Tom
