Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A Florida man who took apart his clothes dryer when it stopped working made a shocking discovery in the lint exhaust -- a snake.
Bruce Wiley said the dryer at his Winter Park home stopped working, so he started taking it apart in an attempt to identify the cause of the malfunction.
Wiley said he felt something moving when he reached into the lint exhaust and took a closer look to find a trapped snake.
He said the snake, which appeared to have minor injuries, pulled itself free after a few minutes and slithered out of his home through the open exhaust vent.
Wiley said he found the flap on the vent exhaust outside his home stuck open, giving the snake its apparent entry spot.
Oh I know. We had a little rat snake out back hub said keep it. It wont hurt and will manage rodents
Ok. Ditto my pest guy you didnt kill it did you?
No I follow directions from hub nature boy
Thing fell out of the garage door when I was driving in about six months later. 5 ft probably
All the kids and the airline pilots off for the day in the neighborhood were so glad to run over with snake catchers etc.
They asked me if I wanted them to kill it or bring it to the creek.
Knock yourselves out. Big procession to the creek
I can’t believe no one has made “Florida Man” the movie yet.
“Wiley said he felt something moving when he reached into the lint exhaust and took a closer look to find a trapped snake.”
When one of my daughters was 4 years old, I looked out the window to see her with a garter snake tied to each of the waist ties of her sundress. She was taking her pet snakes for a walk. I was on the phone with my mom at the time and she was horrified, said she needed to come for a visit and teach her granddaughter how to be a girl.
“If he named the Snake Adam Schiff, then we would have a Story.”
It would only be appropriate if the guy was taking apart his toilet.
Had a pool heater stop working, same thing, snake in the electrical wiring box. It slithered off, unfortunately through a hole further into the device, beyond my reach.
I have to stop the story here, to avoid animal rights attackers.
I do have a photo but don’t know how to post.
We have our share of snakes and hubby has come upon many copperheads. We have a huge rat snake that lives in the rafters of our barn and I am glad (much rather have a snake than rats). But it does give me a start sometimes when Im working and look up and hes hanging right over my head!
At 5 ft. in such a short time it was really doing its job.
Hey your talking Florida, the land of rattlesnakes, alligators, cottonmouths , alligators that friendly welcome tourist. A little black snake is more of a pet, kills eats rats mice cockroaches and probably looking for a nice warm place to park for winter?
I could be off by time and size but there are critters
Right now we have a fat and happy hawk we see from time to time
Wife: ALL SNAKES ARE BAD. KILL IT!..................
My wife was cleaning out the little Koi pond she keeps in the back yard.
She grabbed what she thought was a fallen tree branch and found herself hold on to a snake......
Living in Florida is never boring................
Our Shih Tzu killed a baby rabbit in the backyard. Somehow, she got it in the house and left it on our bed. Later that day my wife noticed it, carried it out to me and asked "When did you get this new toy for the dog?" I think people in the next county heard her when I pointed out what it was.
Then I shouldn’t tell you about the 6 ft. racer in the toilet that shot out hitting me between the eyes and then chased everyone through the house or about his cousin who wrapped itself figure eight around my feet or the rattlesnake that came this close to striking me when I was shelling peas or the bazillion snakes the kitties proudly brought to this desk to show me or the copperhead they didn’t tell me about that was in the guestroom or...
Agreed....I would drop dead if I found that in my dryer.
Yep - the grid-work exhaust covers may be a pain to de-lint, but they do keep critters out....if it was cool outside, a plain flap may have allowed to snake to head for some warmth while it was running.
That’s one reason I don’t want to move. There’s going to be all sorts of things no one wants to see in the dark corners.
Hey your talking Florida

Yep lots of snakes and various other critters in our neighborhood which borders a large preserve. We give them their space. :)
For some time I had an infestation of bats in the louvers of my attic windows. They crapped a lot on the patio but I was hesitant to get rid of them because they controlled the mosquito population. One day at dusk I climbed up to the attic and saw what looked like a garden hose in the louvers. Turns out it was a friendly black snake who had probably ascended through the walls of the house to dine on the bats.
