I’ve just started getting those. Weird. Unnerving. But so far only transient.

I have them off and on too, since I was really young.

Some posters around here, you’d think the optical issues were related to other things...

There’s one way to know for sure. Check to see if you voted for Hillary last time...

Hmm, reading up on those and I got to this part:

“Common migraine “triggers” that can cause a person to have a migraine attack (including ocular and visual migraines) include certain foods, such as aged cheeses, caffeinated drinks, red wine, smoked meats, and chocolate.”

Think I would just live with the migraines instead of giving up that stuff!

I went to an eye doctor because of yellow orbs moving up the side of both eyes. It was like lava lamp bubbles.
He said the rods in my retina were detaching because of age. I was 60.
Nothing to do to repair my eyes. Eventually, I would go blind but I would die of old age first.
Within in 2 years, I had a severe stroke. I continued to get the yellow orbs.
My neurologist said I get ocular migraines because I am tired. He said to close my eyes for 15-30 minutes. Even better, nap or sleep.
Then he said ocular migraines can be be a precursor to strokes.
Call an neurologist if you get ocular migraines.

Had occular migraines since 1994, a few a year, a kaleidoscope that starts small, grows, then fades away - in different parts of visual field. 15 min, and they are gone, usually don’t slow me down at all.

No headache, but sometimes have a slight one afterwards, some times with slight nausea as well - both migraine-like but very minor. Lay down for an hour or so and I’m fine.

Sure glad they aren’t the headache migraines - had one of those when I was a teen and wanted to die......

For those with described eye problems it is insects crawling around after they entered your ear while you were asleep....

#30 Thanks. I disabled adblock and installed ublock. dailymail did not popup any warning. I tried other sites that object to adblock and I get no warning from them and no ads.

BTW you can right click on a photo / ad and Block element and it is gone.

Commonly called migraine aura. Lots of illustrations online showing others what they look like. Mine are colorful and, when they occur, occur at 2:45 pm! Fortunately, no headache accompanies them anymore (did when I was much younger). I actually got the auras to stop by slowly lowering dose of a certain medication type (SSRIs). If you get a cluster of auras suddenly go to doctor; this can be a sign of approaching aneurism.

I don’t have that, but what I do have is a constant “whooshing” in my right ear with my pulse, I’ve had it for a few years.

I went to get an MRI and they couldn’t find anything. I’ve pretty much gotten used to it by now.

I have it in both. I've learned to enjoy it. If I turn my head left and right it changes dramatically.

Just saw an ophthalmologist yesterday. Pleased to learn he was “surprised” how healthy my eyes are. I’m quite old but in good health. Had all kinds of tests I don’t understand that involve staring at a green x and being flashed suddenly with a blindingly bright light. This, after my eyes were dilated and numbed.

The doctor wanted to see to what extent I had cataracts and found that one eye had one small cataract. I can’t believe how difficult it was to get around for the next two hours. Any direct light on my eye was painful. Finally the dilation ended and life resumed.

He also said my eyeball has a small stem, which can sometimes be a precursor to eye problems later in life. So far it has not (fingers crossed). I’ve been near-sighted since I was 10 or 11 years old. Before that I had normal vision.

lost my vision completely

Probably a migraine. Happens to me periodically. The first time was terrifying but now I know to immediately take Advil and it passes. Lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.

If I don't take Advil, though, it can turn into a full-blown migraine which is at least a day of agony.

I had floaters, cataracts and migraine auras. Nothing really can be done about the floaters. Had cataract surgery on both eyes as I was going blind. It was interesting, they used a laser to cut the old lens like a pancake. With the cut lens still in its pocket I had to go through the lobby and upstairs to pre-surgery. What I gather they do is they slit the pocket open and scoop out all the pieces of lens and the insert a rolled up soft lens which they unroll in the pocket. They seal the pocket and you are good to go.
I spent two months between eyes so I was driving around with glasses with one lens popped. I am supposed to have 20/20 now but I am not so sure...
As for the auras don’t be driving on the Grand Central with it happening.

About 10 years ago, I wound up with itchy eyes that got my right eye infected. I couldn't do anything to cure it. One of the women had herbal cures that just made it worse. So I went to my doctor, who sent me to an opthalmologist. He gave metube of antibiotic gel, which stopped the infection.

He also made me get some over-the-counter Benadryl and take it. He said the infection came from rubbing my eyes that were irritated by pollen, and in the future, if this ever happened again, to take some of the antihistamine to stop the itching. I did, and have had no more problems.
