What if the lion had gone for it, and made it? You never know what wild animals may do.
This points to the difference between conservatives and liberals....
Liberals - let’s have laws for taunting lions, and charge her with a crime.
Conservatives - laws of natural selection. If you jump into a lion cage, the “laws of nature” will take care of it.

I used to wander around unarmed and on foot in lion country in Africa a fair bit, back when I was young and stupid (as opposed to old and stupid, as I am today). I used to carry a hatchet, because it was better than nothing. The working theory is that I would face the lion, make a lot of noise and wave the hatchet around, to make myself look like I was not worth the trouble.
The main thing was to not run. The lionesses just love to take down running prey, and a human is so slow that running is pointless, anyway.
As I looked at the picture, I was confused wondering if she was really that close or if that is the smallest adult lion in history. Close inspection of the picture, you can see where the moat is and the relative size of the woman and the lion make a lot more sense.
Usually when you see a picture of a person and an adult lion, you're astonished at how large a full-growth lion really is.
