Amber Guyer guilty of murder, Just announced on FOX News
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
Drunk enough to park on the wrong landing. Drunk enough to get off on the wrong floor. Drunk enough to not notice the red doormat in front of the apartment that didn’t exist in front of her apartment. But not drunk enough to get off a drunk’s bad shot.
5-99 seems a quite large range. Is it up to the judge?

You make a good point. It IS up to the judge. And she is a black woman.
Who - like the black jurors - will likely stick it to this white woman cop.
Don’t get me wrong. Guyger SHOULD (and is) going to jail.
But for how long?
Wow. I am amazed and very happy.
Taking an innocent life BY MISTAKE. I doubt her intention was even to “kill” but definitely disable. (I’ll state no, I have not followed this so am still making many assumptions from the little that came out last year.)
Lots of people kill others unintentionally - and others do indeed still play the blame game and make those accidental killers lives’ hell beyond what it needs to be.
I think your whole post is spot on. She was so out of it she just didn’t see the differences, wouldn’t be shocked if meds or intoxicants were also involved. Yeesh it makes me wonder about what other things she has got away with as a cop in a sexual froth, extremely tired, intoxicated or generally tragically incompetent.
Freegards
You are a cop after all.
Only a cop or criminal lawyer would know that ....
Were not shocked lol
Yeah. That Castle Defense claim was one stupid ass move.
They should have stayed with the crying gimmick. Amber did do an awful lot of crying during the trial.
While her victim did an awful lot of whatever dead people do.
Maybe she was having her “ladies days”.
From what Ive read thats not required
Simple murder in Texas means intent to kill....its limited
But it can be enhanced or not per judges discretion
Capital murder or murder
The door latch was broken and, hence, it was opened/unlocked, she did not ‘break’ in.
Id say thats her future for at least five years per Texas statutes
Good.
If ANYBODY walks into someone else’s house and shoots them dead it cannot be anything else but murder. I don’t care what the reason is for doing so is.
Murder is the only justifiable verdict to be fair to the victims family.
A trained professional police officer should not be prone to panic.
“How did she get into his apt? Did she have a key?”
I wondered that too, but it was answered the other day. The door had a history of not locking properly. She supposedly put her key in the lock and the door just opened from the slight pressure of her trying to get her key in the lock. I guess that’s what initially freaked her out.
Unfortunately, it was a case of shoot 1st, ask questions later. Though I don’t think it was 1st degree murder. I think voluntary manslaughter would have been more appropriate. But what do I know?
The door latch was broken and, hence, it was opened/unlocked, she did not break in.
And she was also coming off a 13 1/2 hour shift.
Not excuses but potential reasons for lack of attention.
"That's a hell of a price to pay for being stylish."
The report I heard said she rendered no aid after she shot him. She had no blood on her hands and she had equipment with her that may have saved him had she used it. Seems like an important detail.
Murder was the correct verdict. If he had shot her while she was raising her gun it would have been self-defense on his part.
I work 12 or more hours 7 days a week when I am deployed. That is not much of an excuse.
Yes you are right and I am corrected. I checked and murder can be the charge if someone’s conduct is so reckless that it essentially amounts to intent.
