The BBC's highly-anticipated sci-fi drama, The War Of The Worlds, has dropped it's first trailer.
Veering away from the 2005 Hollywood version - which starred Tom Cruise, was helmed by Steven Spielberg and was set in the present day - the three-part series takes place in Edwardian England, harking more accurately back to the source text.
The novel - written by H. G. Wells and published in 1897 - sees martians, in the form of giant, spindly-legged machines - attack Earth, on hunt for resources.

“Im issuing a spoiler. In the end the alien invaders all die from a virus because they forgot to get their flu shots before they set off for earth........”
No free healthcare on Mars, the reason they were forced illegally enter another planet. That and Martian make global warming.

I always lock onto ‘Warspite’ or ‘Revenge’...but I’m pretty sure those are historical HMS’s that did some cool things.
The Brits have great names for their warships.

I love the book, and prefer the 1953 George Pal version. I own it on DVD.
That movie helped to establish the entire serious science-fiction genre.

The 1953 version is still gorgeous. Gene Barry was incredibly handsome!
