Pain is the most common reason for a GP appointment — not surprisingly, given that up to a half of all Britons live with daily pain.

Following the advice of pain specialist and sufferer Dr Helena Miranda on Saturday, today the Mail launches a series of essential expert guides to tackling common problems — back pain, migraine, headache and, here, arthritis — to help stop pain ruling your life.

Osteoarthritis need not be the end of the world — or a stellar tennis career.

In January, after years of pain, three-time Grand Slam tennis champion Andy Murray had surgery to 'resurface' his hip joint that had been damaged by osteoarthritis.

By June, he was back on court, taking the Queen's doubles title — not a bad result for an operation many associate with old age and decreasing mobility.

Check the soles of your shoes for walking patterns. Insoles can help combat knee problems if you have a bad walking pattern

I walk on the outside of my foot and wear insoles in houseshoes because I am at home most of the time.

Also, vitamin D

Turmeric is great. Bromaline with it helps a lot. I don't have much joint pain much not. Not sure about CBD.

Also, pay attention to the scales. No, not on your eyes. On the weight scales.

My brother is an ortho doc and fat people come in complaining about sore knees. Sore feet. Sore back.

The last behemoth broad that came in complained about her knees. My brother said, "You need to lose some weight and take the stress off your knees." The lady was offended. She said, "I think I want a second opinion." My brother said, "Ok, you're ugly too."

CBD is nothing but snake oil. Don’t waste your money. It does NOTHING. Neither does Kratom. You’d do better giving a donation to the DNC.

I have chronic knee pain and Mr. b had pulled his back and neither of us saw any improvement. No, we have never smoked pot or anything else so the lack of effectiveness had nothing to do with resistance.

Turmeric is painting over dry rot, no different than taking an aspirin or Oxy. I believe that most pain is a symptom of a larger problem not yet connected by those biased with “sick-care” and exposes the true “epidemic” in industrialized nations.

Inflammation is a cause of a lot of pain. Some foods cause inflammation and some reduce it. I see lots of contention here today so you will have to look up your own solutions as some work for some people and some don’t

For osteoarthritis tumeric is the answer. We buy organic tumeric in bulk online then make up our own capsules. I used to have terrible pain especially in winter. Two years later I can’t remember the last time I took an advil.

I use 4% Lidocane patches during the day, and Level 5 Pro Sport CBD in the evenings, and they both work to *reduce* some of the unending, excruciating, inoperable r/s neck-arm disc pain. I tried PT and it hurt worse. Worst thing about CBD is the overpowering menthol smell.

For turmeric, you may want to look into the absorption of it. For example, forms that are hydro-soluble absorb better.
