Metallica says its frontman James Hetfield has entered rehab, and the band is canceling its upcoming tour in Australia and New Zealand.
Three of the heavy metal bands members posted a statement on Twitter Friday announcing the decision and apologizing to fans. [ ]
The statement didnt elaborate, but the bands members said they appreciate fans understanding and support of the 56-year-old Metallica co-founder.

Of course, because not all bands can be the Rolling Stones.
(They’re touring with just two original members anyhow.)
I think you meant realistic. To answer, no not really. Only since becoming an adult.
Dude has 350 mil in the bank. His support staff are probably on salary and may very well get paid. Even if they don’t I would be willing to bet they aren’t out looking for new jobs.
It’s just for 90 minutes every weekend, excepting rehearsals. The expenses are the most worrying after the deleterious health effects (the outrageously deafening sound volume being the least concern), FWIH.
The old adage glass half full versus half empty has merit
I know personally several artists who have performed for decades
They still enjoy the hell out of being appreciated onstage even doing oldies
You don't know what you are talking about.
Frank Bear, original drummer for ZZ Top has been in and out of rehab. AC/DC lost original lead vocalist Bon Scott to addiction related death. Original drummer Phil Rudd of AC/DC had his own drug and other legal issues. AC/DC's original rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young (RIP) was in and out of rehab.
For every celebrity case of public rehab, how many more privately seek help nobody knows.
And I recognize that as being the case, especially when the artist has the freedom to play whatever they want for an audience. However, for the superstars, fans want to hear only their music. Playing other's music is what club bands do.
Nope. Didn't listen to it.
LOL....wrong, again.
You must be someone easily triggered. As others here have noted, you appear to look at the glass half full.
Btw...it’s Frank Beard, not bear.
And, those were merely rumors, that he was addicted....just like the rumors that the band had been killed.
Bands always play a mix of old and new
Unless there is no new
Usually its about 80;20 old versus new
Only self conscious preeners like maybe Robert Plant complain about doing old music
Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have no issue with it
I live in Franklin TN area and know old rockers and country folks
Waylon Jennings was someone I knew in the mid 90s since my fiancée was his business head
Waylon loved playing ....and he enjoyed thoroughly doing the old stuff as well as going on Lollapalooza...with Metallica
He became pals with Hetfield from this chance encounter and Hetfield used to visit he and Jessi in Brentwood
Hetfield loved Waylons kind of floating style of picking that Tele
Anyhow...Im not name dropping its just where I live in semi rural Nashville and schools with kids and pool clubs or just sitting at a bar...in Franklin and you get to know artists in passing or more so
Over 20 years or so you meet and know music celebs of rock and country genre here
Ive never heard one bitch about the pull of fans desiring touring and wanting to hear the old stuff
Never not once
They adore that they are still appreciated its their damn mothers milk
Its so thick here around six years ago at our favorite bar restaurant the Red Pony I had to seriously deter little Bret Michaels making a strong play for my wife while I went to the john
The bartender and his lovely goddess wife are some of my best friends and he warned Bret shes married with kids
He flared off after I came back but kept eyeballing her...it was funny to be honest ...hes not the five ten he claims
Thats just an example of how it is around here....
I wonder did Frank get tired of singing New York or did Andy Williams tire of Moon River?
Of course you didn’t.
Your loss.
Indeed he left the Bay Area for Colorado because of it
Creative folks often are very sensitive and have a very tight self orbit of awareness of themselves
Its weird to someone like me but Ive seen the angst over and over
Country male artists usually not so much
The ones Ive known only personality flaw was theyd grown accustomed to being catered to.
Otherwise pretty normal emotion wise
Selfish is the entirety of alcoholism
Trust me
There is a no more selfish individual than a matured drunk
The vitriol and bitter sarcastic tongue directed at all they claim they love
Ill take a stoner any day over having lived with self pitying drunks
This is it in a nutshell
Put an AA meeting within earshot of an Al Anon meeting
The AA pricks are celebrating having cake ove their sobriety after all these years...high fiving and all groovy
Down the hall some 18 year old girl is crying her heart out to strangers how her drunk dad beat her mom and acted improperly with her and now hes dying of cancer and she still loves him and is confused with resentment for his drunkenness and sadness hes dying while she tries to help him cause shes all hes got.
Im getting emotional recalling that ...her sobbing snot coming out her nose and those bastards celebrating overcoming their selfish scorched earth drunkenness
I detest the whole GD thing.....fcuk a damn drunk who destroys his or her family and then feels all sorry for themself
There are plenty of things in life I like that are not good for you....I always placed my responsibility to my family and myself over that and did not let any of it become my life
I sure aint no church lady
There he is.
:D
Carl Orff is the father of metal.
Carmina Burana O Fortuna! is metal AF.

Wagner was the father of heavy metal.
Ride of The Valkyries.
