I like Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs and Planet Caravan.
That’s about it from them as far as I am concerned.
Metallica, in my opinion, is far better.
“Motley Crue, Poison, Aerosmith, etc. have destroyed hotel rooms”
A fraternity brother of mine was a bellhop in late 70’s at the Hyatt in Cleveland where all the rock bands stayed.
He delivered food etc to most of the rock groups over a couple of summers and said he rarely saw partying, sex or girls. Most of the groups were dead tired and when he went in most were on the telephone to wives or gf or sleeping or watching tv.
It was never like you would see characterized in magazines or see on TV or hearsay.
He did see some wild stuff at times but it was rare.
BTW, the first time I saw Metallica was during Ozzy’s “Ultimate Sin” tour, at the Meadowlands in New Jersey; it was the “Master of Puppets” album for them (with Cliff), and there was some talk about how Metallica almost upstaged Ozzy, with people defending either performance. A friend of mine is insistent that Ozzy won that one with his opening move of descending from the top of the stage in the throne built into his Ozzy automaton. (Ozzy opened with “Bark At The Moon”, which was unexpected since he usually opened with “I Don’t Know” up until that time.)
The Angel of Joy!
Alright, that’s Headbanger Heaven right there!
I don’t know how far back you go but when I first heard the opening with the rain and all on the first Black Sabbath album I sat upright in my seat. I had never heard anything like it and I was hooked. And I have never done drugs or drank. That was 1970.
By the way I am Chris almost 79.
I took my sons to MSG in N.Y. to see Black Sabbath. Van Halen was the opening act. They were unknown & well received. On the other hand Sabbath was booed.
That tour was oft repeated in the metal music press. Apparently a real debacle for Sabbath.
I must cede the argument to you.
I’m Chris, 48.
I have the same experience with Metallica’s music. It just reached me.
Of course, I confess that I have done drugs and drank, but not so much drink.
I’ve thought about that too. There is NO WAY I could EVER be a famous rock musician. Sure - I’ve played air guitar to some really good riffs. But good grief - having to do that over and over again - day after day? Year after year? No thanks. I’d be really tempted after one big album to buy a ranch somewhere and build an off-the-grid cabin and never be heard from again.
Yep
have You been this optimistic your entire life ?
I've never replied to one either.
Thats not even remotely comparable its not just stoned Snoop Dogg
Hip hop people.... they arent artists either as a rule
They do far far far more than your run of the mill poontang chasing hotel room destroying cocaine sniffing Petrus swilling decadent rock star ever has
Hip hop life is about rape and killings and crack dealing frequently and gang life and nobody calls them out in celebrity world because they are minorities as a rule
Hell many hip hop labels were born of murder and crack dealing gang thuggery and what passes as black organized crime ...although organized is a generous term when used here
There is zero moral relativism between hip hop malevolence and old rock decadence
And worse it aint music except on rare occasion
Hip hop and its progression have ruined popular music into engineered warbling that all sounds the same sung by some ethnically ambiguous boy or a girl with a fat ass
I wish we had those decadent rock folks back...please
Nobody will listen to hip hop for fifty years like they do some rock songs and some country as well...
Hip hop as its progressed is an example of a culture so dysfunctional it glorifies its lowest common denominator as Art
Thank you
Comparing hip hop thug culture with rock decadent behavior is nonsense
Which one kills more?
Do you guys know that of the known hip hop artists community that has died over half were murdered
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_murdered_hip_hop_musicians
Yeah, sure, I bet.
I hope you enjoyed the song.
You must be one of those types longing for a "good" government job where never needing to look left or right, you only have one form to process day in and day out until you are eligible for retirement.
