Carrion Luggage ping?...................
The good news is that he wasn’t the victim of gun violence. The rotting culture is safe for now.
2 months and a vacation period not talking to his son?
My wife talks to our college daughter pretty much daily, and we usually have a few texts throughout the day.
Different parenting styles, I suppose.
We had a neighbor die inside his house. The smell could be detected from across the street. There was a Reason this guy was left undiscovered. Im thinking drugs involved.
Mens dorms are usually stinky so one more odor was likely overlooked,
a womans dorm would not likely have tolerated it.
Three months later, around Christmas time, my mother got a phone call from the office of the public high school. They had noticed that I had missed a large number of classes recently and were calling to see if all was OK.
This is inconceivable.
Wouldn’t anyone notice if he missed classes?
Must not have the concept of “in loco parentis” in New Zealand, or they f’d up royally.
Not taking attendance apparently.
This sort of thing is why I prefer it when my children join the military. Someone would notice if they died.
At a university, it’s entirely possible to disappear as long as the bills have been paid.
In the time he was missing and dead, he made the Deans List
That’s nothing. We’ve had scores of brain-dead students in our colleges for years and nobody seems to notice!
I guess we know who won the title for cutting the most classes this year.
Sad, but a result of the life he chose. I could not disappear for 1 day, even if I wanted to... too many people depend on me. There are a lot of people who have tuned out reality and gone deep into drugs, video games, porn, or whatever. So much wasted potential.
It’s a sad case but not unthinkable. These sorts of cases — undiscovered deaths — pop up regularly. According to the original article he was known to go “off the grid for several weeks at a time.” There was a bit of a smell, but that’s not unheard-of in college dorms. It was only after the two-week vacation that it became quite noticeable. And one of the commenters mentioned that he was a foreign student. If he was, say, Asian, the Kiwis may have assumed he was simply a quiet, serious student, perhaps a bit shy, and preferred to keep to himself. I wonder what the cause of death was?
They probably thought it was his dirty laundry.
The guy next to me in a boarding house killed himself.
Four days later there was no question that something
in that room was dead.
“Amid an outcry from university students”
Eh, projection much?
Aren’t these the same students who lived near him in the dorm, were his friends, were his classmates? No one was interested in the smell, or the fact they hadn’t seen him (or heard anything that he might have left, etc)?
Sounds like alot of people are do-nothing careless useless people, and it’s not just the college’s fault.
The typical smell of a mens dorm is not much different from a decomposing corpse.
